After comparing their tourism destinations in 2013, readers of the British magazine Wanderlust decided to name Colombia the second “best country” to visit.

The award ceremony was held in London during the Times Destinations Holidays & Travel Show, where every year Wanderlust announces the contest’s winners in addition to the cities, agencies and airlines that are also awarded.

After nearly four years, the Disney cruise line returns to Colombia with the inauguration landfall, in Cartagena, of one of its most significant ships.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 18, the Disney Wonder Cruise will arrive to the historical port with nearly 2,700 passengers on board, the first group that arrives to the country with the cruise line since 2008.

For second year in a row, Colombia will be present at WTM, the most important tourism fair in the United Kingdom, with the representation of PROCOLOMBIA and 19 companies between November 5th ad 8th.

Colombia is the second largest exporter of flora in the world, behind the Netherlands, and has long been recognised for producing the highest standard of flowers, revered for their quality and permanence.  In fact over $1.24bn worth of flowers were exported from Colombia around the world in 2011, and around 7% of the roses, carnations and chrysanthemums sold in the UK originate from Colombia.

The event, which was attended by over 30 UK travel professionals, formed part of Colombia’s 28 day awareness campaign in London. The tourism drive has incorporated a month long taker over of the National Geographic Store in London and a number of pop up events at Victoria Train Station, Westfield Stratford and Harrods.

The 28 day event, encompassing the takeover of the National Geographic Store and a number of pop up events throughout London, is set to showcase the warmth of the Colombian people, the richness of the country’s architecture, the awe inspiring vistas and the phenomenal cultural spectrum that Colombia has to offer.

B.O.G Hotel only opened in February this year, but is fast becoming the city's go-to destination for style-savvy travellers. Interiors, created by award-winning designer Nini Andrade Silva, are lavish in comparison to the simple, concrete exterior.
