An iconic flower stall outside Harrods was looking even more vibrant than normal this morning as, in honor of Colombia’s “Colombia in London” tourism campaign, the kiosk are exclusively selling Colombian flowers this week.

Colombia is the second largest exporter of flora in the world, behind the Netherlands, and has long been recognised for producing the highest standard of flowers, revered for their quality and permanence.  In fact over $1.24bn worth of flowers were exported from Colombia around the world in 2011, and around 7% of the roses, carnations and chrysanthemums sold in the UK originate from Colombia.

The Flower Stall will be running until the next week on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London, but for those who want to see Colombia’s stunning stems in their homeland… you should pay a visit to the Medellin Flower Festival in Colombia, a ten day celebration comprising of over 140 different cultural facets which takes place every August in Medellin - known as the “city of eternal spring”.

The 28 day #ColombiainLondon campaign, encompassing the takeover of the National Geographic Store and a number of pop up events throughout London, looks to showcase the warmth of the Colombian people, the richness of the country’s architecture, the awe inspiring vistas and the phenomenal cultural spectrum that Colombia has to offer the UK tourism market.
