Resounding success at the ProColombia business conference during Eje Moda 2024 in Pereira

ProColombia's business roundtable as part of Eje Moda 2024 concludes with commercial results of US$1.3 million. The 60 Colombian companies that participated were able to attend 210 business meetings with 10 international buyers from Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Bogota, June 19, 2024. - Last June 13 and 14, the city of Pereira hosted a new edition of the international business roundtable organized by ProColombia, within the framework of the Eje Moda 2024 Fair.

The event, which took place at Expofuturo Convention Center, Salón Santuario, counted with the participation of 10 international buyers from Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Mexico, besides 60 exporting companies from the departments of Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda and Norte del Valle.

According to Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia, “The success of ProColombia's business roundtable highlights the importance of the Eje Moda Fair as a crucial space for the promotion of the fashion industry in the region and the opening of new international markets for Colombian companies,” she said.

The Eje Moda 2024 fair, organized by the Dosquebradas Chamber of Commerce and supported by ProColombia, included a trade show, catwalks, an academic agenda and the expected business roundtable.

In total, 210 business appointments were made, generating a commercial volume of US$1,320,956, of which US$317,656 corresponded to immediate sales and US$1,003,300 to short- and medium-term business expectations.

The day before the business round, on Wednesday, June 12, 12 visits were made to production plants in the municipalities of Pereira, Dosquebradas, and Villamaría. These visits allowed international buyers to get a close look at the design programs, production and commercial systems of the garment factories.

The fair was notable for the diversity and quality of the participating companies, including 58 MSMEs (15 medium-sized, 24 small and 19 microenterprises), 6 companies from municipalities with less than 200,000 inhabitants (Riosucio, Villamaría, Cartago and Santa Rosa de Cabal) and one company from a Zomac municipality (Riosucio).

It is noteworthy that 10 companies were led by young entrepreneurs and 53 by women, while 37 companies focused on sustainable processes and products.

The most outstanding products during the business roundtable were men's and women's casual clothing, girdles and control garments, sportswear, swimwear, footwear, jewelry and costume jewelry.
