Thanks to this, between January and June 2024, Colombian exports of packaging grew more than 3% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching USD 171 million, something that shows the growing interest in these goods and the country's production capacity.

On the other hand, the countries that acquired most of these goods were the United States, with 30%; Ecuador, with 11%; Peru and Mexico, with 7%; and Venezuela, with 6%. Guatemala, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Chile also stood out.

This indicates that Colombia's main buyers are in the Americas and that the country is strongly positioned in the region. However, thanks to its 17 trade agreements, the country has the capacity to reach a market of more than 1.5 billion consumers located in other parts of the world.

Finally, although the national supply is diverse, the most exported packaging were plastic, with 65%; paper and cardboard, with 12%; glass packaging, with 6%; natural and synthetic fibers, with 5%; and aluminum, also with 5%. In addition, packaging made of base metal and iron or steel also stood out.
