As of this Thursday, PROCOLOMBIA will be accompanying eight Colombian companies during the first Latin American forum to be held in this field.

Outsourcing, viewed as subcontracting a third party company to fulfill a specific task, is now one of the strengths of Colombia and Latin America. Therefore, the first Latin American and Caribbean forum will be held this 14th and 15th of April on the subject.

The name of the encounter is Outsource2lac, a meeting organized by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), Tholons Investment company and the Uruguayan Goods and Services Investment and Exports Promotion Institute, intended to identify new opportunities and strengthen the outsourcing offer in the region.

PROCOLOMBIA will participate in the encounter and accompany eight Colombian outsourcing companies to show their service portfolio in digital animation, 3D movies, and the creation of software and applications for mobile phones.

The forum will gather over 300 entrepreneurs from different countries in the world such as the United States, Philippines and Europe, export and investment promotion agencies from over 15 countries in Latin America, and over 180 companies like the Colombian companies that will be offering their services there.

PROCOLOMBIA has identified numerous opportunities for Colombia in this sector, such as the design of animated content, mobile applications for all types of smart phones, sales and customer service, telemedicine, software and technology services and technological infrastructure outsourcing.

Within the realm of services offered, 73% of the Colombian companies offer IT and outsourcing services and 27% of the total are Call Center service providers.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism's figures, the sector had a variation in 2010 of 24,5% with respect to 2009, generating over US$2,800 million.

This ranked Colombia as the third largest market in Latin America, with an industry that employs over 84 thousand people.
