The Spanish company is dedicated to telephone sales and service in the Spanish and Colombian markets. Thanks to the qualified personnel they have found in the country, they are expecting to consolidate and continue to grow.

The Spanish multinational company Telemark announced an increase in its work force in Cali from 800 to 1,200 employees by the end of 2011, reiterating their confidence in Colombia.

"We came to Colombia because, undoubtedly, the whole world has good things to say about the country thanks to the facilities it is now providing and the highly qualified work force available in the country," said Virginia Guzón Zapatero, Operations Director, Telemark, a company specializing in Telemarketing.

With presence in other countries like Peru, Paraguay and Spain, they began operations in Cali, Colombia, one year ago with 400 workers and by the end of 2010 they already had 800. “Excellent results have been achieved. That is why we expect to consolidate ourselves and continue growing in Colombia," said Guzón.

In addition, they opened an office in Pereira two years ago, the city where they began their operations in Colombia and where they have had a labor force of over one thousand people. “We have grown because, thanks to our staff from Cali and Pereira, our clients rely on us,” she highlighted.

The interest shown in Valle del Cauca by multinational companies like Telemark has a lot to do with the investment boom experienced by the province in the past few years, thanks to its geostrategic location close to the port of Buenaventura and the good air-traffic connections, among other reasons, which have turned it into the third most preferred destination by international investors who decide to establish their business in Colombia, after Bogotá and Antioquia.

There are figures to prove that. As of the third quarter of 2010 a total of US$60 million had been received in IED, which equates to 4.7% of the national participation, according to the Central Bank.

The main investment sectors in Valle for the past few years have been the metal mechanics industry and the manufacturing of paper, cardboard and derivative products. However, PROCOLOMBIA have identified opportunities in port infrastructure, alternative energy sources, productive plants, hotels and the establishment of “Call Centers” and BPO services, such as those offered by Telemark
