More than 20 Colombian companies participatedin eMerge Americas

Featuring more than 20 Colombian companies, PROCOLOMBIA were present at the first edition of the eMerge Americas tradeshow that was held at the Miami Beach Convention Center. During the event, buyers and investors were able to find companies like Alsus, SoftManagment and Nativapps, that can suit their needs in the IT industry.

Colombia has been growing in this industry since 2009 when PROCOLOMBIA, the entity in charge of promoting non-traditional exports for the country, began to work closely with the technology sector. In 2012, the Ministry of Information, Technology and Communication of Colombia joined in the objective to attain internationalization of the industry through different methods.

Thanks to this agreement, IT companies have increased their participation in international events, training seminars, supply/sourcing programs, business conferences and exploratory visits to strategic markets such as Silicon Valley in the United States.

In 2012, PROCOLOMBIA assisted 150 Colombian companies, and by 2013 the number increased to 328, offering support and participation in events such as the Game Developers Congress in San Francisco, Cannes Film Festival, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and the World BPO Forum in New York, among others.

The entity also invites international buyers to specialized tradeshows in Colombia; Softic, BAM, Colombia 3.0 and Andean Congress of Contact Centers are a few examples. In addition, PROCOLOMBIA has help annual business matchmaking forums for the last three years in Silicon Valley with Colombian companies that provide software, video games, digital and mobile applications, and are looking to explore the market and find new business opportunities.

In a joint effort with the Ministry of Information, Technology and Communication, PROCOLOMBIA has created an IT brand for Colombia to promote the sector abroad with buyers and potential investors. The Ministry has found in PROCOLOMBIA a perfect platform to help the SMB segment in their internationalization plans.

Start up village  

During the tradeshow, organizers hosted the “Start up Village” event in which entrepreneurs showed their products and services to hidden judges. Innpulsa, a Colombian enterprise focused on supporting local startups to connect with bigger companies, brought eight startups to eMerge Americas to participate in the “Start up Village”.

These participating companies were:

-       Musicall: A company focused on connecting music artists with people looking for music for their projects.

-       Geomedical Health: A company offering different medical services through its website, as well as consulting services in medical tourism.

-       Fluvip: A company focused in connecting brands to develop successful social media marketing campaigns in Latin America, the US and Spain.

-       CPN Apiflower: A company offering make up in which synthetic components have been replaced for natural ones.

-       Mu Team S.A.S.: Through its website, this company offers messenger booking services in less than 30 minutes.

-       Con Saber Humano E.U.: A company that sells and rents education materials through their online marketplace using an online payment platform. The company will soon be opening an online classroom.

-       Avanzados Films S.A.S.: A company focused in offering solutions for movies. They have video, color, data, engineering and image consulting among others.  

-       Ideas y Asesores Educativos: This company’s platform helps students to connect with specialized tutors in different areas.
