From July 16th through the 19th, national entrepreneurs will participate in the Swim Show fair in the United States, one of the most important trade shows i the world in its class, with the attendance of about two thousand international buyers.

For four days, fifteen Colombian entrepreneurs from the textiles sector will showcase their latest swimsuit designs and accessories for the beach in the United States.

With the assistance of PROCOLOMBIA, national exporters will participate in the Miami Swim Show from July 16th to the 19th to broaden their markets and meet distributors from the United States' marketplace.

The fair, which takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center and is organized by the Swimwear Association of Florida (SAF), is one of the most important fairs in the world in the swimwear segment, as it brings together 350 exhibitors and around two thousand buyers from 50 countries, mainly from the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico and Europe.

In addition to promoting and positioning their brand names, Colombians will get to know the latest trends in swimwear and come closer to the buyers, representatives, chains, agents and specialized press, which will visit the show looking for new brands and designers to do business with.

Colombia's participation at the Fair includes resources from PROCOLOMBIA's Support Plan to the exporters who were victims of revaluation, ATPDEA and the heavy rainfall season.

The support plan contemplates around 50 activities like buyer and seller fam trips, business matchmaking forums, market and market share information for the most important international fairs.

Close to 1,200 export companies will participate during the promotion events visualized in the plan.

PROCOLOMBIA was able to identify that Colombian exporters have important opportunities in the United States marketplace as far as swimsuits are concerned.

Organic fibers and clean production are important in the market, due to the awareness and care for the environment, which exists between consumers with organic fiber and clean production, causing the creation of international sustainability certifications and dignified treatment of employees within the value chain.

According to the information by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, based on DANE figures, Colombia exported US$14 million in swimsuits in 2010.

The product most sold during the past year was women's and girls' swimsuits, representing sales in the amount of U13.6 million, and a total share of 97.2 percent.

The United States were the main destination, followed by Mexico and Venezuela. During 2010, exports to that northern country reached US$2.5 million, achieving a growth of 72.5 percent with respect to 2009.
