The country stands out as a destination where it is actually possible to invest, in addition to its image amongst Mexican investors as an export platform to enter South America.

Over 50 representatives from the main companies in Mexico and the media from that country attended the Seminar on Investment in Regions and Duty Free Zones in Colombia, organized by PROCOLOMBIA.

The competitive advantages and facilities offered by Colombia to new investors were presented during the seminar, as well as the various incentives and different types of Duty Free zones, which represent several options to cover the needs of each company; Also, tax benefits and the possibility to find qualified professionals upon the establishment of your business.

The entrepreneurs received first-hand information on the behavior of the Colombian economy, which has grown at an average rate of five percent, and the substantial improvement of the economy, which has enabled Direct Foreign Investment in the country reaching three times is size ten years ago.

The seminar also allowed strengthening trade relations between Mexico and Colombia, allowing the South American country to position itself as one of the safest destinations in the world.

According to the Central Bank, Direct Foreign Investment in 2010 was US$6,759.9 million, while in 2001 it reached US$2,5451.9 million.

Three of the most important risk ratings firms in the world, Standard and Poor’s, Moody’s and Fitch, granted Colombia the degree of investment this year, thus ratifying confidence for foreign investors to come to the country. All three highlighted not only the national economy’s solidity, but also its strength in facing the external challenges.

Among the guests at the seminar were the Colombian Ambassador to Mexico, Jose Gabriel Ortiz; the Vice President of Investment for PROCOLOMBIA, Juan Carlos Gonzalez; the Director of the Chamber of Users of Duty Free Zones for ANDI, Edgar Orlando Martinez; and the Director of the Mexican Sales Office of PROCOLOMBIA, Juan Carlos Grillo.
