Colombia presented investment opportunities in strategic sectors to private funds in Switzerland

A total of 15 Swiss private equity fund attended the seminar for Business and Investment Opportunities in Colombia, organized by PROCOLOMBIA and the Embassy of Colombia in Zug, Switzerland.

The event was held in association with Partners Group, the largest private equity fund in Europe with more than 20 billion Euros in resources and who is an active part of the bilateral agenda that Switzerland and Colombia have conducted this year by the enactment of the Free Trade Agreement and the commemoration of the first 100 years of diplomatic and trade relations.

Colombia has become a very atractive market for European private funds thanks to the economic and political stability in the country, for the dynamic business environment and for recent advances in foreign investment support.

In 2010 the number of private equity funds in Colombia grew 89 percent with the entrance of companies like Ashmore Investment Management (UK) and Brookfield (Canada).

The meeting emphasized the opportunities in infrastructure, energy and agroindustry, sectors of particular interest to Swiss companies, private equity funds and family offices.
