The delegation led by PROCOLOMBIA will be accompanied by 25 businessmen and representatives of regional institutions in the sector. Colombia will take an innovative proposal for nature tourism, special activities and an environmental strategy to contribute to the reduction of carbon footprint.

Colombia, the most biodiverse country per square kilometer in the world, first in birds and amphibians, second floors, third in reptiles and mammals fifth, will offer visitors to the International Tourism Fair, ITB 2011, a novel proposal their tourism offer in Nature.

ITB Fair, which will take place in Berlin, Germany, between 9 and 13 March, will feature 25 national companies, led by PROCOLOMBIA with support from the Tourism Promotion Fund of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

"We will be in Berlin with a bid that seeks to promote our products and offerings in nature and ecotourism. The Germans and thousands of European visitors may discover the charms of our national parks, the opportunities offered by products such as bird watching and whale, and the magic of places like St. Augustine, the Tayrona and Villa de Leyva, among others, " PROCOLOMBIA said the president, María Claudia Lacouture.

The Colombian delegation also comprises representatives of regional institutions, tour operators and hotels that will position the Colombian tourism not only in Germany but with representatives from more than 180 countries each year attend the ITB Fair.

The objectives are to attract tourists interested in nature destinations within a strategy that guarantees respect for the biodiversity of these areas and environmental stewardship.

"In Germany with the help of all will contribute in reducing the carbon footprint by an environmental strategy that will link to all visitors to our stand. The goal is that together we contribute to tree planting and reforestation in high impact areas in Colombia, "Lacouture stressed.

At the booth of Colombia more than 180 000 visitors can learn about the offerings ITB that showcase nature tourism the country. At the same time sharing Colombian coffee and enjoy live musical performances with the group Swing Latino salsa and adopt a tree that will reduce the environmental impact of carbon footprint casts.
