Columbia Sportswear chose Colombia as their testing ground for their new clothing line "OutDry Extreme" which is expected to launch worldwide in February 2016.

US journalists were invited by Columbia with the support from ProColombia, the entity in charge of promoting exports, foreign investment and tourism in Colombia, to tour several places with heavy rain conditions such as the Iguaque National Park in Boyaca sitting at 11,800 feet high and Chingaza Park in the department of Cundinamarca, where they walked amidst a 400-year old historical cloud forest.

The journalists were surprised at Chingaza Natural National Park’s beauty because it is the only place in the world where the frailejon Espeletia Uribei grows, a perennial subshrub that reaches 40 feet high and can live close to 800 years.

"I can’t believe I'm actually touching a plant which I’ve only seen in photographs. This is truly amazing making this trip even more memorable. Colombia has enormous appeal for the rest of the world and certainly this is one of those things "Graham Averill Blue Ridge Outdoors

This is the first time that Columbia tests their clothing line in South America and they chose Colombia because of the positive momentum the country is experiencing and also for its varied landscapes.

Andy Nordhoff the director of public relations for Columbia concluded that choosing the country for this test was a great success: "Colombia has great potential to develop adventure tourism and attract more people who love extreme experiences, which is exactly what we look for as a company "

For more than two years Columbia studied the materials and design of their new products which guarantee full protection to their customers. The journalists meanwhile rated this experience as unforgettable.

"I'm surprised at all the different landscapes this country has; it really exceeded all of my expectations and if that was not enough the food is delicious. People make you feel right at home and I really want to come back to Colombia "Nancy Bouchard - Backpacker magazine reporter.
