With 95 congresses in 2010, Colombia was ranked as the fifth country in Latin America and number 34 in the world according to the number of hosted conventions.

Colombia continues to become an international destination for congresses and conventions as it gains ranking position with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). Since 2006, Colombia climbed on the chart from number 50 to 34 last year.

Correspondingly, Bogota continues to place itself internationally offering cultural, culinary, nightlife, hotels, and infrastructure for conducting events. In 2010, Bogota reached sixth place after escalating 32 positions among more than 340 cities for hosting the highest number of events of international stature during that year, accordingly to the ICCA.

The ICCA holds the most important corporate tourism measurement in the world as it seeks destinations for international meetings, congresses, and conventions of international associations. PROCOLOMBIA´s activity in 2010 achieved to bring 14 large events and the promotional support of another 40 associative congresses.

To further increase the presence of foreign visitors, PROCOLOMBIA works toward the promotion of the country’s international image and as a destination for corporate tourism as it is equipped with very good technology and infrastructure to host important, world-class congresses and conventions.
