Once again, the country has proven it is ready to receive and organize events, congresses, conventions and to be the destination for incentive trips

Colombia was designated as the host country of the World Apparel Convention in 2014, making it the second Latin American country to host this, one of the most important events in the apparel industry in the world.

The convention is arranged every year by the International Apparel Federation (IAF), with over 200 representatives attending from the textile industry, including distributors, clothing manufacturers, experts and designers, with the presence of the international press from over 20 countries.

The announcement was made in Colombia by the Institute for Exports and Fashion, Inexmoda. The title allows the country to make international progress as a destination for congresses, conventions and incentive trips.

According to the International Congress and Conventions Association (ICCA), Colombia occupies the 34th place in the world by capturing a total of 95 congresses in 2010.

In the past few years the country has hosted important international events like the WEF Latin America in 2010, the Inter-American Development Bank Assembly in 2009, and the International Tourism Organization Assembly in 2007, among others.

ICCA is the most important corporate tourism measurement in the world, reaching over six thousand international associations in a constant quest for destinations for their congresses and conventions.

“After the interest the region awoke within us to visit and see the opportunities they have to offer, I think Colombia well deserves to host our Convention to start promoting and facilitating business with the members of the Federation", assured Henry Van Dalfsen, President of the International Apparel Federation.

Inexmoda explained that the intent of the encounter is to "help the members of IAF to propose successful strategies and ideas for fashion production, supply and distribution, with the aim of being more competitive".
