ProColombia and the Colombian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications will launch the “Colombia Bring IT On” campaign to promote the country’s growing IT, Software and Digital services with an event in Toronto next month.

A year ago, Colombia launched its “Colombia Bring IT On” campaign to promote the country’s growing IT, Software and Digital services sector with a high-profile event in New York City that gathered hundreds of entrepreneurs and buyers under one roof with a conference and business matchmaking forum. Next month, the ambitious campaign will launch in Canada with a similar event in Toronto, hosted by ProColombia and the Colombian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications. (Stay tuned!).

Colombia is emerging as a new hub for ICT companies looking for top-rated services and investors keen on finding new opportunities. With one of the most thriving and competitive economies among developing countries, Colombia offers stability and a promise of continuous growth.

The country has 13 bi-lateral trade agreements currently in force, including deals with Canada, the US and Mexico, affording it access to more than 1.5 billion consumers worldwide. According to the IMF, Colombia will sustain a pace of growth of about 4.3 per cent through 2020. The government expects a high-earning middle class to represent about 44% of the total population by then.

Three key advantages underline Colombia’s potential as a key player in the global ICT industry: a sound economy, a privileged geographical location, and high connectivity. Other important factors include a skilled, bilingual workforce and competitive costs.

Colombia shares a time zone with important business centers like New York, Toronto, and Miami and one of the best connectivity infrastructures in the hemisphere. Since 2010, the national government has spent over US$ 15 billion in initiatives aiming to increase connectivity, encouraging businesses of all sizes to go digital, training programs for professionals, pardoning loans for students entering ICT-related careers, and more.

For all those reasons ProColombia expects a great deal of interest and participation from Canadian and American companies and investors in the launching of Colombia Bring IT On.
