Chosen as the host city for the International Group and Group Process Psychotherapy Congress to be held next year, Cartagena has also consolidated itself as a corporate tourism destination, or MICE.

"Between Worlds and Cultures: Social Transformation” is the name given to this version of the congress, to take place between July 16th and 21st next year, displaying the latest scientific developments and advancements in the field; this congress will focus on social projects and group community work models.

Amongst others, the attendees to the event will be researchers, students, psychologists, psychiatrists, teachers, social workers, doctors, nurses, sociologists and entrepreneurs.

According to IAGP, the Heroic City was chosen for being "a symbol of diversity and cultural representation. The rich influence of different ethnic groups in this strategic and privileged place in the Caribbean has turned it into an international destination."

Cities in Colombia like Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, San Andrés and the regions of Santander and the Coffee Triangle have the best technology and infrastructure to host important national and international events.

Last year 14 large events were achieved for the country with the direct support of PROCOLOMBIA. Over 40 associative congresses were supported by the entity as part of its strategic mission to attract international tourism.

Hosing this type of events creates a positive economic impact for the country, as well as the exchange of information and the possibility for high-level people, well known in their fields, to get to know Colombia and possibly come back to the country with their families and/or start a positive word-of-mouth communication about their experience.

According to the 2009 results published by ICCA, the association that classifies countries according to their features and the number of conferences held, our country went up one position in the general ranking, positioning itself as the number four Latin American country in hosting international events after Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Chile.
