Thousands of new hotel rooms are glimmering in Colombia, including Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt, Marriott, Radisson and Crowne Plaza.

With the perfect combination of colonial charm and modern architecture, Cartagena de Indias has emerged as a world-class destination for meetings and incentives with new hotel openings and developments. In 2010, three boutique hotels; Hotel Altamar, Hotel Zalmedina, and Sahna Plus Hotel, opened in Cartagena de Indias, offering visitors a unique cultural experience. With its geographical location, favorable climate, and easy access to the United States, Europe, and the rest of Latin America, Cartagena de Indias is a city well sought after. In addition, its qualified labor and well-trained professional staff warmly invites incentive groups to its hotels and tourist infrastructure that accommodate any taste and budget. Chain hotels such as the Sonesta Seaway 935, Holiday Inn, and Royal; as well as the expansion of Global Resort, Estelar Cartagena de Indias Marbella and Estelar Playa Manzanillo have made their appearance in opening big hotels reaching over 1,000 room capacity. Top chain hotels continue to open and develop in Cartagena de Indias, as the city looks forward to the NAO Intercontinental, which is set to open in 2012 with over 300 rooms. The Torre del Mar of the Hotel Las Americas is next to be inaugurated in June with 280 rooms followed by the Holiday Inn Morros Cartagena which is set to open towards the second semester of the year with 140 rooms. The rest of the projects and developments are set to open towards the end of this year and 2013.

Cartagena offers hoteliers a variety of accommodations to suit the needs of the Incentive trips and groups: luxury hotels that operate in exquisitely restored historic convents; cozy, versatile boutique hotels in the walled city; state-of-the-art hotels in modern neighborhoods; and even a resort just 10 minutes away from the historic center.
