Between 2003 and 2010, the Peruvian Foreign Direct Investment in Colombia was US$85.4 million, according to the figures by the Central Bank.

The economy, stability and growth of Colombia have consolidated it as an excellent destination for Direct Foreign Investment, positioning the country as number two in receiving Peruvian investments in the world.

This was one of the topics addressed during the Seminar on Investment in the Regions and Duty Free Zones of Colombia, organized by PROCOLOMBIA in Lima, with the attendance of 27 entrepreneurs who represented important companies from all of Peru.

During the event, the Vice President for Investment from PROCOLOMBIA, Juan Carlos Gonzalez; Juliana Villegas, director of the PROCOLOMBIA Peru office and Edgar Martinez, Executive Director to the Duty Free Zone Users' Chamber from ANDI, explained the opportunities, benefits and projects offered by the various regions and duty free zones in Colombia, as well as the best commodities and investment sectors.

Among other reasons to invest in Colombia are a good business climate, since the economy has grown during the past five years at rates higher than 4% per year. In 2009, the Colombian GDP registered growth for 0.4%, a positive growth during the recession period. Moreover, this country has the second ranked qualified labor availability in Latin America, an ideal platform for exports and a variety of incentives for investors.

In addition, Colombia is the third "friendliest" country for doing business in Latin America, and the largest reformer in the region, according to the "Doimg Business" report from the World Bank.

In addition to representatives from seven duty free zones in Colombia, the following cities and representatives participated: Bogotá, Santa Marta, Pereira, Manizales, Scandinavian, Cúcuta, y Barranquilla; and representatives from Barranquilla and Invest Pereira, Regional promotion agencies.
