10 Colombian Exporters Leveraging the FTA with the United States
With the support of PROCOLOMBIA, these entrepreneurs have explored or regained market share in the U.S. thanks to the commercial opportunities and tax benefits from the trade agreement, signed two years ago.
Bogota, May 13th (Pxp). According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, based on data by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), a total of 1,689 domestic companies have explored the American market for the first time since Colombia’s Free Trade Agreement with the USA came into force two years ago. Florida is the destination with most shipments, particularly of Colombian products including live plants, tea, aluminum, apparel, and accessories.
FTAs Attract 245 New International Buyers to Colombiamoda
81% of the 297 foreign entrepreneurs who have never visited the fair before are from countries with which Colombia has a trade agreements. In total, PROCOLOMBIA invited 789 entrepreneurs from 33 countries where there is business potential.
The free trade agreements Colombia has, such as its agreements with the United States, Mexico, Canada and Chile and the agreement with the European Union that will soon go into effect, motivated the participation of new international buyers at the next Colombiamoda event.
Masglo Sales in the U.S. Grow Due to the FTA and "Patriotic Nails"
The company went from sales of 25 thousand dollars in 2011, to 60 thousand in 2012, with a forecast of 120 thousand by the end of the year.

More than 800 entrepreneurs from the United States and Colombia will meet in Miami for the Business Matchmaking Forum. PROCOLOMBIA will also hold training seminars, and seminars on tourism promotion and investment.

Third Business Matchmaking Forum in the U.S. Since the FTA Will be Held in Miami
The third large wave of Colombian exporters to the United States since the start of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2012 will take place through the Business Matchmaking Forum on May 14 and 15, reported PROCOLOMBIA president Maria Claudia Lacouture.
According to Lacouture, 280 American and Caribbean buyers, and 500 Colombian exporters are expected to participate. They must register before April 25. (www.macrorruedasprocolombia.co/miami2013)
