Colombian swimwear is highly regarded worldwide, known for its innovative designs and quality. It was only a matter of time for them to become part of the offer in upscale fashion retailers.

It was eight years ago when Maaji began exhibiting in two of the biggest swimwear trade shows in the U.S., Surf Expo in Orlando and Swim Collective in Miami Beach. Now, the company has come a long way and understands better the needs of the North American market. Today Maaji’s products are being sold in exclusive department stores in the U.S., Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

Colombian companies to keep showing their Best to the World

Colombia does not miss any chance to let the world know why its strategic location, top- notch technology and taylor-made production make it the perfect business partner when it comes to textile and apparel. Information forums and exploratory trips are coming soon.

After a busy couple of months in which the Colombian textile and apparel industry participated in different trade shows and events, including the very successful Magic, Colombian companies continue to work hard to show the world what they are made of. Colombian textiles will have a strategic presence in two important upcoming events: the WWD Global Sourcing event in New York City in October and the USFIA’s Textile and Apparel Importer Trade and Transportation Conference in November.

As identified by PROCOLOMBIA, the potential is concentrated in established markets, specifically in the Americas, from Canada to Chile, as well as potential and developing markets in Europe and parts of Asia.

Consumer education key to exotic fruit market growth in UK

Consumer education key to exotic fruit market growth in UK

Importers have warned that the strong growth potential of the UK’s exotic fruit market may not be realised unless consumers are adequately educated about the nutritional benefits of the fruits and their uses.

Marks & Spencer, Asda and Morrisons recently started stocking some exotics that are new to the UK market such as tamarillo, which are native to Colombia. Upmarket retailers like Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Fortnum & Mason are also seeking to expand their exotics ranges.

However, importers fear this increased interest in the sector may not be sustainable unless an increased onus is placed on consumer education.
