"We are breaking the myth of exports to Brazil": President of PROCOLOMBIA

The Business Matchmaking Forum started in Sao Paulo with 126 exporters and 162 buyers from Brazil.

With the largest delegation of entrepreneurs from Colombia to Brazil, made up of 126 exporters, the Business Matchmaking Forum organized by PROCOLOMBIA in Sao Paulo began. 

&quot We are breaking the myth of exports to Brazil. This is the first time we come with a large group of companies from 23 subsectors will meet with 162 Brazilian buyers interested in doing business with Colombia, &quot said the president of PROCOLOMBIA, Mar&iacute a Claudia Lacouture in the installation of the event. 

The massive presence of businessmen from the countries shows that &quot Colombia has the competitiveness required for its products to go to Brazil, and the myth that Brazil is a market where we cannot enter is being broken with Colombian businessmen,&quot he said.

Of the 162 buyers from Brazil, 42 belong to the agribusiness sector 57, manufacturing 16 clothing and 47 services.

On the exporters&#39 side, Cundinamarca leads the participation with 51 exporters Antioquia with 31 Atlantico with 10 Valle del Cauca with nine Caldas with six Risaralda with five Bolivar with four Magdalena with three Norte de Santander with two and Boyac&aacute with Cauca, Meta, Nari&ntilde o and Santander, with one each.

Lacouture said that, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Colombian exports to Brazil have increased by 80 percent, primarily from the sale of non-traditional products, which is a reflection of the national potential.

The deputy governor of the State of Sao Paulo, Guilherme Afif and the Ambassador of Colombia, Mar&iacute a Elvira Pombo, were at the inauguration of the Business Matchmaking Forum.

The Macro-Business Matchmaking Forum is part of the Support Plan for exporters impacted by revaluation, the non-renewal of ATPDEA and the heavy rainfall season of the past few months.
