Three cruise ships with 6,000 passengers arrive in Cartagena between Thursday and Saturday

Cruise ships Island Princess, Coral Princess and Horizon, with approximately six thousand people on board including crew members and passengers, will arrive in Cartagena as part of the cruise season 2011-2012.

For the current season, 171 cruise ships are supposed to dock in Cartagena with 292,954 passengers and 121,132 crew members, arriving until June 6, 2012, while Santa Marta will receive 8 ships with 8,540 passengers.

According to the operations report issued by the Cartagena Regional Port Society, between July 18 and October 24 2011, 28,259 passengers arrived in the city in cruise ships, 12,591 went on the tours offered by cruise operators and 5,504 enjoyed the city on their own.

The passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy the diversity of the tourism offering of the city, including restaurants, museums, San Felipe Castle, the historic center and shopping.

The Island Princess, coming from Vancouver, will dock in Colombia this Thursday, November 3, with 1970 passengers and 900 crew members. The Coral Princess, with the same number of people, will dock on Friday, November 4, while the Horizon from the company Pullmantur, will do so on Saturday and on a weekly basis, all the way until February next year.

PROCOLOMBIA the cruise line and wholesale companies in Central and South America, are working toward the consolidation of Cartagena de Indias as a port of embarkment, strengthening the destination package with lodging nights prior or post embarkment on the Horizon (Pullmantur), and Grandeur of the Seas (Royal Caribbean International), allowing the visitors to enjoy all sorts of attractions and the atmosphere of the city through a longer stay.

The entity is an active member of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) one of its promotion strategies is the country&#39 s participation at the world&#39 s largest cruise ship fairs, like the Seatrade Cruise &amp Rivercruise Convention and the FCCA Conference &amp Trade Show, through a delegation comprised by PROCOLOMBIA, the ports of Cartagena and Santa Marta and ground tour operators.

Since 2006, the number of cruise line passengers who have visited Colombia has grown six fold. This year, 50,946 passengers were registered through 53 arrivals. Since then, the figures have grown constantly and 2010 registered 269 arrivals with 296,049 passengers.
