Santander Fashion Week 2011 starts tomorrow

Seventy Colombian Exporters and 45 international buyers will meet in Bucaramanga this 7th and 8th of July. A specialized room for jewelry and a space for young talents will be this year’s innovations.

Increasing exports to the markets of the United States, Central America, the Caribbean, South America and Europe in the sectors of fashion, jewelry, garments, accessories and footwear will be the goal during the sixth edition of Santander Fashion Week 2011 and the IV Jewelry Showcase, starting this Thursday in the city of Bucaramanga.

The event is organized by the Bucaramanga Chamber of Commerce, supported by PROCOLOMBIA at the Bucaramanga Center for Fairs, Exhibitions and Conventions (CENFER), with the attendance of 70 Colombian exporters and 45 international buyers.

“This fair has grown significantly. We expect that, albeit the dollar currency devaluation, the visiting buyers are so happy with the offering that the price is no longer an issue,” said Tatiana Gonzalez, Manager of Tatiago Accesorios. “What is important is that in spite of any problems exporters may have, they don’t lose contact with their clients these events do a great job of that,” she added.

On the other hand, designer Silvia Alfonzo said that “Santander Fashion Week has become stronger and promoted the creation of other, smaller fashion events, and has put the region on the map thanks to the increasing number of brand names and local designers with very cool and different proposals.”

Specialized fashion and design boutiques will be present at the fair, as well as entrepreneurs dedicated to the distribution and sale of gold and silver jewelry, precious and semi-precious stones seeking to invest in other markets.

There will also be a Mobile Fashion Hall Pavilion, a space reserved for Young designers who stand out for their innovation, creativity and new brand names.

“There are high expectations this year given the large amount of publicity. It will be a very strong event because many people know about it,” said Mayerly Rey from Bahia Moda.

This will be the first fashion event the Province of Santander will hold this month. It will be followed by Expoasoinducal, the shoe and leather-accessory fair, taking place from July 13th to the 15th, where 400 national companies will get together with 35 international buyers and EIMI, to be held between July 19th and 21st, gathering 100 Colombian companies and 52 children’s clothing buyers.
