The website highlighted Colombia's growing international tourism with new hotels and international air routes.

Santa Marta' s beaches, in the Colombian Caribbean coast, were selected by SmarterTravel users as one of the top 10 recommended destinations to visit in the summer of 2011. Also on the list were California, New Zealand, Mexico and Bali.

" Although Colombia has been off the tourism radar for a while, it' s making a comeback with new hotels and air routes that connect it with international destinations," the site' s article pointed out.

Smartertravel.com is one of the most visited sites by travelers around the world and part of its success comes from its impartial opinions. It' s part of the TripAdvisor Media Group that manages 18 sites dedicated to promoting tourism and it reaches approximately 50 million users.

The more than 300 beaches on the Atlantic and Pacific oceans were highlighted among Colombia' s features mentioned on the site. It also described Santa Marta as " a beautiful and serene city" with the advantage of being just an hour and half from Tayrona Park, where tourists can enjoy the contrast of the jungle and white sand beaches.

Santa Marta is one of Colombia' s destinations that PROCOLOMBIA promotes at an international level. In fact, SmarterTravel' s article includes a link to the site in English www.colombia.travel  where a profile of Santa Marta is presented.
