PROCOLOMBIA opened new round of entrepreneurial meetings

The aim is to present the Proexport service offer and the opportunities overseas for diversifying exports, promoting tourism, and fostering direct foreign investment.

PROCOLOMBIA Colombia opened last Tuesday a new round of entrepreneurial meetings aimed at presenting its service portfolio and a wide range of opportunities for exporters in Antioquia and Medellin.

In the presence of some 85 entrepreneurs of the region, Exports Vice-president, Ricardo Vallejo Direct Foreign Investment Vice-president, Juan Carlos González, and Tourism Vice-president, Zully Salazar, together with the Regional Office Director in Medellin, Jorge Sierra, participated in a discussion board geared to identify opportunities towards market diversification.

“These meetings are highly positive. This is one of the best tools the Government has facilitated for us to enter new international markets. These venues are very important because we can speak out our concerns and we are given solutions”, highlighted David Jiménez, a businessman from Antioquia.

According to a study conducted by PROCOLOMBIA, various opportunities have been identified in the exports of BPO services, software, outsourcing, technology-based creative industries and digital animation in countries like Peru, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Spain, United States, United Kingdom and Canada.

Similar opportunities were presented for the textile sector, specifically for female underwear, swimsuits, sportswear, uniforms, textile inputs, jeanswear, leather goods, and semi-processed leather goods in countries like Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, China, Russia, United States, Germany and Spain.

Also, some possibilities were presented during the meeting in the fields of construction materials, metal structures, hardware, and constructive systems and auto parts in United States, Canada, Central America, Chile and Brazil.

“These meetings are very interesting. We, as exporters, need this kind of support, for many years we have focused our efforts on only one market, and now PROCOLOMBIA brings us new air and helps us find other opportunities in other countries”, stated Claudia Zea, businesswoman from Medellin.

The entrepreneurial meeting was hosted by Juan Camilo Nariño, Vice-president of the National Association of Industries, ANDI.
