PROCOLOMBIA Events Agenda from October 24th to 30th, 2011

From the week of October 24th to the 30th 2011, Proexport Colombia will participate in the following national and international events.

International Business Matchmaking Forum in Toronto, Canada

1. On October 27th and 28th, PROCOLOMBIA will hold the International Business Matchmaking Forum in Toronto with the aim of diversifying markets and identifying opportunities and benefits brought by the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and Colombia.

A total of 195 exporters in the fields of agribusiness, manufacturing, apparel and services will meet with 174 Canadian buyers interested in Colombian products at the Fairmont Royal York.

The Business Matchmaking Forum seeks to strengthen bilateral relations between both countries, increasing exports from Colombia to Canada, and providing an approach to display products, benefits and potential opportunities for both markets.

As part of the Business Matchmaking Forum, there will be an Investment Promotion Seminar in Colombia in the sectors of mining, energy and infrastructure, and another to raise the  awareness of Canadian wholesalers on the country's tourism offering, especially in Nature Tourism, and History and Culture.

Bogota, Bucaramanga and Medellin at the World Medical Tourism Congress in Chicago

2. PROCOLOMBIA will participate for the fourth time, at the World Medical Tourism & Global Health Congress, to take place from October 25 to 28 at the Marriott Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Chicago.

This event is the largest medical tourism industry event in the world, gathering the most important insurance companies representing the sector, in addition to employers, hospitals, medical tourism facilitators and other key industry figures, where more than 1,500 people are expected to attend, as well as and 120 exhibitors, from 87 countries.

PROCOLOMBIA looks to position the country as a medical tourism destination, and showcase the quality of its services and expertise in the market.

The PROCOLOMBIA exhibition stand will include Colsanitas clinics in Bogota, the Bucaramanga Cardiovascular Foundation, Fundación Cardio Infantil from Bogota and Specialized Centers of San Vicente de Paul in Medellin and the Medellin Health Cluster.

XV Latin American Duty Free Zone Conference in Guatemala |

3. More than 400 people from over 25 countries are expected at the XV Latin American Conference on Duty Free Zones, an event that gathers users, administrators and officials of public and private free zones in Latin America, to be held for the first time in Guatemala, from October 26 to 28.

PROCOLOMBIA will participate for the first time at this event, with its own exhibition booth, joining the organizers: Ministry of Economy of Guatemala, Santo Tomas de Castilla Duty Free Zone, AGEXPORT, Chamber of Industry of Guatemala, Guatemala Chamber of Commerce, to fulfill the purpose of holding an annual conference in Latin America to gather the business community, authorities and organizations interested in Duty Free Zones as a means of attracting investment, job creation and economic growth.

Quala Dominicana makes inspection trip to Santander

4. From October 27 to 30, with the aim of holding an incentive trip for the sales force of Quala Dominicana, two company representatives visited in Bucaramanga, San Gil and Barichara to introduce the destination.

During the trip there will be inspections of hotels and activities to promote adventure tourism.


Travel Agents from Puerto Rico meet in Bogotá

5. As part of the promotion strategy of Colombia as a corporate tourism destination, PROCOLOMBIA, with the support of Copa Airlines, will hold the Convention of the Puertorican Association of Travel Agents (APAV 2011), to take place at the JW Marriot Hotel in Bogota from October 26 to 31 with over 100 attendees from the Puertorican tourism industry, including travel agents, tourism wholesalers, airlines, cruise line representatives and tourism offices, among others.

VIP Golf Punta Cana Fam Trip in Bogota 2011

6. From October 27th to 30th, four entrepreneurs from the main Golf courses in the eastern part of Punta Cana will visit Bogota to see the various options available in terms of golf courses, hotels, restaurants and other tourist attractions of the city, in order to position Colombia as a Golf tourism destination and increase the creation of tourism packages by tourism wholesaler Gestur to Colombia.


In Houston, Seminar on Investment Opportunities in Colombia.

7. PROCOLOMBIA and Greater Houston Partnership, the company in charge of business prosperity in the Texas region, will conduct the seminar " Colombia's Energy Sector: Business and Investment Opportunities," this coming Wednesday, October 26th from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the JW Marriot Hotel in Houston (United States). The event will provide a first hand look at the opportunities and business and investment benefits in the oil services and assets business in Colombia.

The Vice Minister of Mining and Energy, Tomás González, will be present at the event, and meet with the 50 most important companies in Texas.
