PROCOLOMBIA Events Agenda from November 14th to 20th, 2011

From the week of November 14th to the 20th, 2011, Proexport Colombia will participate in the following national and international events.

Events Agenda:

In Turkey, Investment Promotion Seminar in Colombia

1. This November 17th, in Istanbul, PROCOLOMBIA will participate in an Investment Seminar where it will showcase the business opportunities for Turkish entrepreneurs. The event will be held during the visit by President Juan Manuel Santos to that country.


Third International Business Encounter on Infrastructure in Cartagena

2. From November 16 to 18, PROCOLOMBIA and the Colombian Infrastructure Chamber will hold the International Forum on Infrastructure Businesses at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center to display and promote alliances between Colombian and foreign companies in the sector of Consulting Engineering, construction, concession and operation.

Engineering and Construction Service Providers from 13 countries (Aruba, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, United States, France, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Panama) were invited by PROCOLOMBIA to participate in the business matchmaking forum with 55 national companies from that sector. The business appointments seek to provide spaces for exporters to explore the possibilities to participate in projects as subcontractors, or to explore the possibility to build strategic alliances to participate in consortiums in the bidding processes that are being developed in the region.

Colombian food offering in India

3. From November 16 to 18, six Colombian companies will participate at the sixth version of the Annapoorna-World of Food, India in Bombay, with support from PROCOLOMBIA in order to find partners interested in doing business with our country.

The companies Base Cook, Toscafe, Signa Grain, C.I Dulces la Americana, Uniban and Dulces Paragü itas will offer their tropical sauces with a blend of spicy ingredients, different varieties of coffee, including soluble coffee, soy milk, microwave snacks, hard-candy or confections, fried plantains and guava paste, milk caramel, wafers and cookies, at the Bombay Exhibition Center.

During the event, an activity called " Taste the Flavors Colombia" will take place between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, intended to showcase the different flavors offered by Colombia.


Health Services at the Colombian Hospital Showcase Aruba

4. With the intent to promote Colombian health services and to position the country in that field, PROCOLOMBIA and Avianca will hold the first Colombian Health Fair in Aruba between November 19 and 20 at the Westin Resort & Casino Hotel, in Oranjestad, Aruba.

Three government agencies, nine health entities and entrepreneurs from the various health sectors in Aruba were invited to the event, as well as 16 institutions from the health sectors of Bogotá , Bucaramanga, Pereira and Manizales, which will provide the attendees with information on treatments, medical centers and general health services with different specialties like cardiovascular treatments, eye surgeries, cancer treatments, neurology, dental care, bariatric surgery, robotics, medical checkups and fertility treatments.

In furtherance of the Colombian health sector promotion and positioning activities in the Caribbean, the event will target end users and will be open to the public.


In Turkey, Promotion of Golf Practice in Colombia

5. For the second year in a row, PROCOLOMBIA will participate at IGTM, the most important international fair in the world Golf industry, which takes place every year with the sponsorship of the International Association of Golf Tourism Operators - IAGTO, which gathers over 600 exhibitors from over 67 countries and 140 representatives from international media.

This year, PROCOLOMBIA will attend with two entrepreneurs specializing in Golf World Tours and Astrotours, and each one scheduled 37 business appointments with buyers from Europe, North America, Latin America, among others.

PROCOLOMBIA will have an exhibition stand and will also be an exhibitor, presenting the Colombian product and service portfolio to over 350 specialized buyers who are expected to visit.

Puerto Rico Supplies on an inspection trip to Cartagena

6. As part of the strategy to position Colombia as a destination to hold corporate conventions, PROCOLOMBIA and Operador Contactos are supporting the Puerto Rico Supplies inspection trip, a company specializing in the distribution of food and makeup, and one of the largest in that industry in Puerto Rico.

Two representatives from Puerto Rico Supplies will visit the city of Cartagena de Indias between November 15 and 19 get a personal look at the city' s ability to hold the annual sales convention, to be held in 2012, with approximately 260 people from their sales force.

Seminar on Investment Opportunities in Colombia and Peru.

7. On November 15 at the JETRO in New York, PROCOLOMBIA will participate at the Seminar on Investment Opportunities in Colombia and Peru to Japanese companies, intended to sharing the opportunities existing in the country and to capture their participation at the next investor' s trip, scheduled for February 2012.

Colombia and Peru have become very attractive destinations due to their economic growth, which has been comparatively high thanks to the recent liberal economic policies, including great efforts to achieve Free Trade Agreements with the most relevant countries, like the United States, the European union and Japan.

Colombia as the host country for the Alta Airline Leaders Forum 2012

8. Intended to promote international dialogue for the development of a safer, and more efficient aviation industry in the region, PROCOLOMBIA will support ATAC (Colombian Association of Air Transportation) from November 16 to 18 at the Windsor Barra Hotel, Rio de Janeiro, in preparation of the candidacy of Medellí n or Bogotá as the host of the event Alta Airline Leaders Forum in 2012.

The ALTA Commercial Aviation Leaders' Forum is the commercial aviation industry' s most important event in Latin America and the Caribbean and it gathers all of the leaders who control civil aviation flows in the region, which represents 92% of the traffic in the region, for an amount of over $20 billion dollars a year.

Over 600 participants are expected at this conference, including leaders from the world of aeronautics, and will also feature the attendance of 60 CEOs and Presidents from airlines in Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the closing ceremony, PROCOLOMBIA will exhibit a cultural activity from our country


Tourism Festival in Gramado Brazil

9. PROCOLOMBIA will present the country' s tourism offering in Brazil from November 17 to 19 with the aim of increasing the flow of tourists to the various domestic destinations.

This is the 23rd Edition of the Gramado Tourism Festival, the most important tourism fair in the Southern Region of Brazil, which gathers the entire tourism production chain, and will be held at the Centro de Feiras y Eventos Serra Park, with the presence of airlines, hotel chains, travel agencies, cruise line operators, tour operators, destinations, and specialized media in the tourism sector, among others.

PROCOLOMBIA will participate with six companies: Panamericana de Viajes, Gema Tours, Metropolitan Touring, All Reps, Hoteles Las Amé ricas and Capilla del Mar, and Decameron Hotels, expecting 13,000 specialized visitors and close to 300 exhibitors.

Cartagena as a cruise ship port of embarkment in Chile

10. As part of the strategy to promote Cartagena as a port of embarkment, PROCOLOMBIA and the support of Interexpress in Chile, will conduct training sessions to close to 10 travel agencies, in reference to the city as a port of embarkment, to promote cruise packages from Chile during the summer.


Regional Tourism Planning in Bucaramanga

11. Forty players from the Tourism Sector, including entrepreneurs, trade unions and public entities, will meet at the tourism planning event in Bucaramanga, by PROCOLOMBIA, with the players of the tourism sector, in order to establish the set of actions to allow the promotion of the region as an international tourism destination at the Club Campestre de Bucaramanga on November 18th.
