PROCOLOMBIA and regional promotion agencies are working to attract more foreign investment

A meeting was held in Bogota with representatives from five regional entities to determine the 2012 strategy to increase Foreign Direct Investment flows.

Representatives from the promotion agencies of Barranquilla, Medellin, Cali, Pereira and Bogotá met with PROCOLOMBIA to articulate the work plan for 2012, which will enable the growth of Foreign Direct Investment, which will come to the country and each of the regions.

The work session took place at the Hotel Cosmos 100 with Probarranquilla, ACI Medellí n, Invest Pacific from Cali, Invest in Pereira and Invest in Bogota, to determine next years' strategies, discuss challenges, projects, segment niches and define the work methodology.

The encounter featured the participation of the President of PROCOLOMBIA, Maria Claudia La couture, the vice president of Investment of PROCOLOMBIA, Juan Carlos Gonzalez, foreign and regional office directors, as well as advisors from the organization, entrusted with the attraction of more FDI.

" We have created a unique work ecosystem by bringing the national offering of investment opportunities in a grounded way to these regional proposals. But this system is subject to improvement, therefore it is very important that both the advisors in Canada and the people from Pereira are aligned. Activities like today' s are an excellent opportunity to continue improving," said Santiago Viera, deputy director for investment at ACI in Medellin.

On the other hand, Tatyana Orozco, Director of Probarranquilla, said that " Colombia is a country of regions and, as such, we are very different from one city to another in terms of our knowledge. These encounters have allowed us to know one another better and define unified working methodologies."

According to a message by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, " the figures in the exchange market according to the Central Bank indicate that the revenues from Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Colombia, accrued as of October 14 this year, reached US$11,543 million, with a growth of 52.3% as compared to the same period in 2010."
