With innovative and quality clothing, Colombians expect to conquer the Canadian market

150 Colombian expoters and 120 Canadian buyers will meet during an International Business Matchmaking Forum in Toronto.

For two days, October 27 and 28, Colombian entrepreneurs will offer cutting edge and quality designs during the International Business Matchmaking Forum to take place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.

In the garments sector, Canadian stores will have the possibility to sell Colombian products, known around the world for their quality and innovation.

The event will be attended by 120 buyers from Canada and 150 Colombian exporters who will offer leather goods, garments, swimwear, control and children' s clothing, jeans, shirts, T-shirts, pants, jackets, pajamas and underwear.

The meeting is organized by PROCOLOMBIA, the entity entrusted with international promotion of tourism, investment and exports, and will aim to strengthen trade relations between the two countries, not just the clothing sector but also the agribusiness and manufacturing sectors.

Moreover, it will help the recent Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, in force since August 15.

As a preamble to the business meeting, PROCOLOMBIA and the non-profit organization Trade Facilitation Office Canada (TFO) have conducted a series of seminars intended to prepare Colombians for successful access to the Canadian market.

According to the information by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, with DANE figures, exports of the garments sector reached US$ 6.7 million. Between January and July 2011 they reached US$ 4 million.

By sector, clothing sales had the largest share with 57.4 percent of the total, followed by textiles and rawhide prepared leather, with 18.9 and 10.4 percent respectively.
