FTAs Attract 245 New International Buyers to Colombiamoda

81% of the 297 foreign entrepreneurs who have never visited the fair before are from countries with which Colombia has a trade agreements. In total, Proexport invited 789 entrepreneurs from 33 countries where there is business potential.

The free trade agreements Colombia has, such as its agreements with the United States, Mexico, Canada and Chile and the agreement with the European Union that will soon go into effect, motivated the participation of new international buyers at the next Colombiamoda event.

" Out of the 297 participants from these markets, 245 are new, that is 81%. This affirms foreign interest in Colombia as a supplier of apparel that not only offers quality, but also clear rules of the game and stability to make long-term business deals," expressed Maria Claudia Lacouture, PROCOLOMBIA president.

The United States is bringing the largest number of buyers that have never visited the fair before, with 105 out of the 130 who will participate this year. It is followed by Chile (66 out of 68), the European Union (28 out of 31), Mexico (25 out of 40) and Canada (21 out of 28).

As well as entrepreneurs from the Americas and Europe, Colombiamoda will have potential importers from Asia, with the participation of countries such as Japan, China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Russia, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

In total, PROCOLOMBIA invited 789 buyers from 33 countries. " There is a full package in all categories, especially underwear, bathing suits, sportswear and uniforms, which are their main interests. They also seek Colombian brands. There is a growing interest in new business models such as franchises and joint ventures," explained Maria Lacoutre.

Out of the total, 485 entrepreneurs seek to buy textiles and supplies, " as part of our support for the new Textiles2 initiative," confirmed Proexport.

The confirmed companies from Europe include Indian Touch and Pistachio BVBA from France the German companies, Textilvertretung and Ladytrend Gisela from Spain and Christophe Sauvat from Portugal.

Jockey, OSP Group (Red Cats), Lane Bryant, Royal Caribbean, Zumba and Zappos are some of the prominent confirmed companies from the United States. From Brazil, there will be C& A and Riachuelo, and from Asia La China Histoire de Luxe, Cicek IC Giyim TIC Ve San A.S from Turkey and Bran-IN-Trend and Jessica Company from Russia.
