Exotic fruit and aromatic herbs arrive at Fruit Logistica 2012

There will be 14 of this South American country's largest exporters and they have all been certified internationally by GLOBALG.A.P or HACCP.

Seeking to conquer the palates of those present at Fruit Logistica 2012, the most important fair in the world of its kind with perishable products, 14 Colombian exporters will take the best of their offering in exotic fruits and herbs.

From February 8 to 10 in Berlin, Germany, fruit exporters will take products like gooseberry, gulupa, passion fruit, granadilla, tree tomato, Tahiti lime, yellow dragon fruit, papaya and Hass avocado.

The Colombian herb offering will be based on chives, mint, basil, parsley and cilantro.

With the support and assistance of PROCOLOMBIA, in charge of international promotion of exports, tourism and investment, businessmen and women will also have an exclusive Colombian   stand showing the different uses for their products in different preparations such as in cocktails, sweets and ceviches.

Each of the participating companies has been certified by international organizations such as GLOBALG.A.P and HACCP.

The strategy behind the Fair

Colombian participation is part of the strategy lead by PROCOLOMBIA " A Taste of Colombian Flavors" , the main message in the international food showcase will be " Discover why the flavors of Colombia are in the world' s mouth."

There have been other activities in Europe in order to publicize the uses and benefits of Colombian products.

Since 2010, for example, through tastings in Galeria Kaufhof supermarkets in Germany, there has been information provided on fruits, their uses, nutritional qualities and consumption patterns.

This is the sixth participation of Colombia in the Fruit Logistica trade showcase, leaving a positive balance for Colombians in the past.

In 2011, the 12 participants achieved 400 appointments with business prospects in countries such as Portugal, United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Canada.

Buyers, on that occasion, emphasized the quality of products and fruit Brix degrees, which makes them have more flavor and a higher degree of sucrose as opposed to those from other countries.
