E-Business: Proexport Colombia’s Newest Service

This new tool, also known as telepresence, allows Colombian entrepreneurs to remotely connect from anywhere in the country with the rest of the world to meet new clients and customize their products and services to the demands of the international market.

Bogota, April 23rd. (Pxp).  Colombian entrepreneurs now have the opportunity to access a new service from PROCOLOMBIA right from their home town: Business appointments via an online system with lower Internet requirements that is safer than other systems. This tool, also known as telepresence, will allow entrepreneurs to confer with up to five different buyers in different countries in less than one day, avoiding the need to travel thus saving time and money.

These are but a few of the advantages PROCOLOMBIA&rsquo s new tool can offer to promote Colombian exports and market diversification.

" PROCOLOMBIA&rsquo s local and international offices have deployed this technology that requires a lower Internet connection speed, just 500k it also allows to see and listen to contacts as if they were just a few feet away, with great audio and video quality&quot , explained Maria Claudia Lacouture, President of PROCOLOMBIA Colombia.

After one year of preparation, PROCOLOMBIA opened the telepresence system main portal in Bogota, as well as other portals in Madrid, Spain, and Lisbon, Portugal. Other offices will soon open in Medellin and Cali, Colombia in Toronto (Canada) and in Miami (United States).

" This technology hopes to create more business opportunities and provide new spaces so that companies can access information and recommendations of international buyers, and use this to customize their products or services according to the demands of international clients. This tool will provide a very relevant service for local companies&rdquo , added the President of Proexport.

This cutting-edge video conference system promotes bi-directional or multi-directional communications between two or more locations, with the option to share simultaneous displays of presentations, pictures, and the relevant products.

This free tool will be available for all interested entrepreneurs at any PROCOLOMBIA office in the country and Information Centers.

Andres Gomez, Business Manager of Fibertex - a Bogotan shapewear, sportswear and cotton hosiery-manufacturing company that exports to 28 countries through its Co&rsquo Coon brand - was one of the first users to leverage the tool.

In addition to conducting online business meetings, the tool will also help assessing prospects, which is the first step before meeting international buyers.

This is not the first technological tool implemented by Proexport. The first Online Matchmaking Forum was held during the  50th Business Matchmaking Forum in February of 2014, with the participation of 70 Colombian exporters from 12 departments and buyers from 4 different countries through a telepresence system generating an estimated $600,000 USD worth of business opportunities.
