A total of 16 Danish entrepreneurs attended the Seminar on Business Opportunities and Investment in Colombia, arranged and conducted in Copenhagen (Denmark) as part of the bilateral strategy to strengthen trade and investment.
The event was conducted by PROCOLOMBIA, in joint efforts with the Danish Industrial Confederation (DI) and the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Entrepreneurs from sectors like pharmaceutics, health, maritime, industrial consumables and infrastructure, among others, were present at the event.
During the Seminar, Sten Estrup, Vice President of CHR Hansen, a Danish company operating in Colombia for over 20 years supplying natural ingredients (bacilli and enzymes) to the dairy industry, share its positive experiences in the country with the attendees, and highlighted Colombia’s skilled human resources and the country’s friendly business environment.
Moreover, the Director for Europe of the Colombian Foreign Ministry, Alfonso Soria, and the Director of the Sales Office of PROCOLOMBIA in London, Juan Guillermo Perez, gave presentations on the business and investment opportunities in Colombia. The event took place at the DI facilities, the most important private industrial guild in Denmark with over 10 thousand members from all productive sectors.
According to the information issued by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism and based on DANE figures, bilateral trade reached US$172 million in 2010, with positive results for Colombia and, although accrued investments by Denmark are still small, several opportunities can now be seen in different added value sectors such as maritime and health businesses.
Some of the main Danish firms operating in Colombia, apart from CHR Hansen, are Maersk and Mahe, both in the logistics industry Danisco in the agro industrial sector, and Danfoss, a provider of machinery and equipment.
