Colombian Uchuva will participate as the best new, healthy ingredient at the Arab Emirates fair

It was registered by one of the four Colombian companies participating at Gulfood 2012, the most important food exhibition in the Middle East.

The Colombian company Terrafé rtil will participate in Gulfood 2012, at the Gulfood Awards contest in the category of best new healthy ingredient, with its offering of dehydrated uchuva.

" It is an extremely noble product for its handling and because it is a very resistant fruit. Moreover, it is rich for its nutritional value," said Hugo Fernando Quiroga, General Manager of Terrafé rtil.

Quiroga explained that they registered in the contest because, " in addition to our total belief of the Uchuva, we want to develop our country' s image and show Colombia has many other products to supply that market' s needs."

The contest is part of Gulfood 2012, which is considered the most important food fair in the Middle East, which will also be attended by the Colombian companies Colcafé , Noel and Casa Luker.

Between February 19 and 22 in Dubai, and with the support of PROCOLOMBIA, the four companies will be located at the first Colombian exhibition stand there, offering products like chocolate covering, cocoa butter, crackers, candy, dried and frozen coffee.

" The countries in this part of the world are large consumers of dried and dehydrated fruit. That is how we know we have so many opportunities," said Fernando Quiroga.

Located in Colombia and Ecuador, the company has 400 employees and produces nearly 20 tons of dehydrated Uchuva a week, and exports to 30 countries, mainly European.

" We have already sent some samples and have made some initial contacts, but no concrete deals have been closed yet. The plan now with the fair and the contest is to go and make a big impression with our 100 percent Colombian products," said Quiroga.
