Colombia will participate for the second time at IGTM in Turkey

This is the most important fair in the golf industry, and will take place this year in Antalya, Turkey, between November 14 and 17.

Two Colombian entrepreneurs will be present next week at the International World Travel Market, IGTM 2011, the most important golf industry fair in the world, taking place in Antalya, Turkey.

World Tours and Astrotours will be at the PROCOLOMBIA stand, and have scheduled at least 37 business appointments with international buyers who will visit from Europe, Asia, North and Latin America.

The event is sponsored by IAGTO, the World Association of the Golf Tourism Industry, gathering over 600 exhibitors from over 67 countries and 140 representatives from the international media. 

This fair has become another opportunity for our national entrepreneurs to promote tourism towards Colombia, and will have the possibility to conduct alliances, new business and, especially, to position the country as an international destination for the practice of golf. 

Moreover, the ability to publish the Colombian offering portfolio in the official pages of IGTM, IAGTO, throughout the entire year, and then the participation at the fair.  

The destinations to be promoted are Bogotá and its vicinities, Santander, Barranquilla, Valle del Cauca, the Coffee Triangle, Medellí n and the region between Ibagué , Neiva, Villeta, Girardot and Melgar.

During its first participation in 2010, Colombia was nominated to the awards given by IAGTO amongst the event attendees, in the category of " Destinations to be Discovered," an important achievement for the delegation led by PROCOLOMBIA in its effort to put the country on the sector' s world map.

According to IAGTO, the international golf tourism market is now made up of between three and five million people a year. 

Thanks to PROCOLOMBIA' s activity, Colombia became the first host in South America of the Nationwide PGA Tour in 2010, among its most significant achievements. 

According to the information published by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, based on DAS figures, a total of 1,474,884 foreign travelers chose Colombia as their destination in 2010, representing an increase of 8.9% compared to 2009, when the country was visited by 1,353,760 people. 

The business men' s trip and the exhibition stand were made possible thanks to the support of PROCOLOMBIA and the Tourism Promotion Fund of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism.
