Colombia presented investment opportunities in Mexico

The event, which was organized by Proexport Colombia, was led by President Juan Manuel Santos during his visit to that country.

A total of 22 Mexican entrepreneurs attended the Seminar on Business Opportunities in Colombia this past Monday, August 1st, which took placein Mexico City and was led by the President of the country, Juan Manuel Santos Calderó n.

The event, which was organized by PROCOLOMBIA, is part of the bilateral strategy to delve into trade and investment, and took place within the framework of the visit by the President of the Republic to that country.

During the meeting, attended also by entrepreneurs from sectors like agro-industry, financial services, telecommunications, hospitality, infrastructure, manufacturing and capital funds, business and investment opportunities in Colombia were disclosed, highlighting the competitive advantages and facilities the country provides to the new investors through their incentives, the tax benefits they are entitled to, and the possibility to work with qualified, skilled professionals upon establishing their businesses. 

Accrued Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Mexico and Colombia between 2000 and 2010, according to the figures by the Central Bank, were USD$1,517 million, where Transportation, Trade, Real Estate, Industry and Development were the main sectors.

Some of the largest Mexican firms operating in Colombia are Comcel, Cemex, Mexichem, Mabe, Bimbo, Avantel, Omnilife and Eternit, among others.
