Colombia exhibits business opportunities to Japanese entrepreneurs

The presentation will take place in New York at a seminar organized by JETRO for Japanese companies established in that city.

On November 15 in New York, Japanese companies established in that city will get to know the investment opportunities in Colombia during a seminar organized by JETRO, the Japanese Foreign Trade Organization.

The PROCOLOMBIA event will provide information on the economic situation and will expose the business opportunities in the country.

About 80 entrepreneurs are expected to attend, who will get to know the business and investment opportunities in Colombia in sectors like tourism, software, BPO, construction materials, services in connection with the oil and gas sector, auto parts, health services, make up and pharmaceuticals, highlighting the competitive advantages and facilities provided to new investors through incentives, the benefits obtained in tax matters and the possibility to have qualified labor upon establishment of their businesses.

The business seminar is the prelude to the fam trip by a groups of Japanese investors who will visit Colombia in February next year, enabling meetings with several public officials and entrepreneurs to delve into the business and investment opportunities.  

Accrued Foreign Direct Investment from Japan in Colombia between 2000 and 2010 was US$44.6 million, accrued, according to the figures from the Central Bank. 

Among some of the companies recognized in Japan and established in our country, are Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Toyota Motor Corporation, Hino Motors, Yamaha, Mazda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Sony, Epson, Honda and Toshiba, among others.
