Cartagena and Bogotá among the top 25 recommended destinations of Travellers’ Choice 2011 in Central and South America

Both cities were selected by millions of travellers who voted at the Trip Advisor Web Page, which is visited to look for new places worldwide to visit.

Cartagena, ranked 11 and Bogotá 21, are the two Colombian destinations that managed to be included in the top 25 best places in Central and South America by the Travellers´ Choice Destinations Awards that, in its third consecutive year, presented Trip Advisor, one of the most important online tourism portals worldwide.

Winners were selected by millions of travellers through a Facebook application, where they selected the " cities visited&rdquo and nominated 100. Bogotá and Cartagena were ranked within the top 25 through the votes of tourists worldwide.

As to Cartagena, Trip Advisor (which receives more than 30 million visits a month) highlighted that this is " an undiscovered treasure of colonial architecture&rdquo and one of the safest places worldwide, with beautiful beaches and exquisite restaurants&rdquo .
According to a report issued by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism based on DAS figures, in 2010, a total of 169,100 foreign tourists declared upon arrival to the country that Cartagena was their main destination.

As to Bogotá , Trip Advisor highlighted in its page that it is "   a city full of contrasts, with wealthy zones, suburbs and all intermediate possibilities possible&rdquo . Likewise, it suggests walking through the city with a reliable guide.
The same report of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism indicated that in 2010, a total of 754,960 international travellers declared that Bogotá was their main destination in Colombia.     

PROCOLOMBIA promotes the arrival of international travellers internationally to both cities, for both those who travel on vacations and those who do it for business purposes.
The Travelers Choice Awards receive comments from hundredths of travellers worldwide, and who publish their impartial responses based on their personal experience.
