The Carnival Queen and Oscar Cordoba invited Brazilians to Barranquilla for the Under-20 World Cup

The mix of soccer, carnival and tourism caught the attention of entrepreneurs from Sao Paulo.

The Queen of the Barranquilla Carnival, Marcela Davila Marquez, and goalkeeper Oscar Cordoba invited tourists from Brazil to enjoy the Under-20 World Cup, to be held in Colombia, and to accompany the Carioca team to Barranquilla.
 
The Carnival Queen, Marcela Davila Marquez, was the first to go on stage, where close to 50 wholesalers and communications media staff were present, followed by a group of dancers who, at the rhythm of the drums and Cumbia, gave a taste of the experience Brazilians are going to live in the capital city of Atlantico.

" I would like to invite all Brazilians to become part of the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia. We will see you from July 29th, where we will put on an inauguration ceremony with over one thousand dancers on stage, and where the only risk you are going to run is wanting to stay with us&rdquo , said the Queen.
 
The event, opened by Carlos Rodriguez, Director of the PROCOLOMBIA office in Sao Paulo, included presentations of Manizalez, Bogota and Barranquilla as tourist destinations, while the representatives from Confamiliares from Manizales Contactos and Hotel Caribe, from Cartagena Welcome Tours, Panamericana de Viajes and World Tours, from Bogotá and Valletours from Cali held meetings and provided Brazilian entrepreneurs with information on their packages and services. 
 
In addition to the Barranquilla Carnival sketch, a football-tennis clinic was also held during the Colombian presentation, led by Colombian professional goalkeeper, Oscar Cordoba, who played almost 10 games with local entrepreneurs and journalists.

Carlos Eduardo Silva from Maia Tours, rated the Colombian proposal al attractive. " Football (Soccer) is the most popular sport in Brazil it is their people&rsquo s number one passion, both men and women, big or small.  The presentation was very positive way to bring the fans to Barranquilla during the first phase of the championship" , said the Brazilian entrepreneur.

On the other hand, Andreia Freitas, from the company Eden Tours de Brazil, said that " Colombia is very well prepared, it has very important and beautiful tourist attractions Brazilians would love to see. Colombia is a country of great diversity, and to combine football with our country&rsquo s offering will be unbeleivable" .

Barranquilla, host city of the Brazilian soccer team
This coming 29th of July, the Brazilian national soccer team will play its first game in the Under-20 Soccer World Cup before the Egyptian team in the city of Barranquilla. But not everything will be football during the World Cup. The color, music and happiness of the Colombian Caribbean will welcome all Brazilians who decide to come to the country and root for their team.

Barranquilla is also known as the " Colombian Golden Gate&rdquo , thanks to its privileged location on the Caribbean coast and being the point where Colombia's largest river, the Magdalena, flows into the ocean, offering broad cultural diversity where fashion, gastronomy and folklore play an important role.
The capital city of Atlantico Province, Barranquilla, is the cradle of great artists like Shakira, sports stars like Major League Baseball player Edgar Renteria, and fashion designers like Silvia Tcherassi.

In Addition, it took in many Colombian artists like painter Alejandro Obregon and Literature Nobel Prize Winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez, among others, regular members of the " Grupo de Barranquilla&rdquo (the Barranquilla Group) movement, a legendary forefront movement, and for its bohemian nights at the Bar-Restaurant La Cueva, still open to the public.

Its incredible architectural beauty, surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, its streets and sand, lit golden by the sun, the spontaneity and happiness of the Caribbean people, make Barranquilla de ideal destination to enjoy the serenity of its enchanting beaches and cultural wealth, giving way to the largest festival in Colombia: The Carnival.

The variety of entertainment in Barranquilla is very broad, with different offerings to please a diversity of tastes: Bars and clubs. Additionally, its appeal also lies in the warmth and spontaneity of its people.

As far as soccer is concerned, the capital city of Atlantico has been recognized as, for many years, the host city of the major league national soccer team, playing hundreds of games at Metropolitano Roberto Melendez stadium, with the capacity to seat 60 thousand people.

The Under-20 World Cup promotional tour, supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism's Tourist Promotion Fund, will end this coming Friday in Buenos Aires. The tour included Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Ecuador and Venezuela, where the host cities of the event were also promoted as tourist destinations.
