Canadian expert in cosmetics and ingredients gave advice to 41 Colombian companies as the preamble to the Free Trade Agreement with Canada

His visit is part of the Agreement communication strategy among national entrepreneurs who want to enter the northern country's market.

Colombia has large opportunities to enter Canada successfully with its cosmetics and natural ingredients.

That was the conclusion from the seminar on Marketing Strategies for the Cosmetics and Natural Ingredients sector given in Bogotá, given to 34 companies by Canadian expert William Greenbaum, from the Canadian Executive Service Organization, CESO.

The consultant, who arrived in the country thanks to the support provided by PROCOLOMBIA, was intended to show Colombian entrepreneurs the characteristics of the Canadian market and consumer.

"Colombian companies are ready to be successful, because they now have access to the natural ingredients produced in the country," said Greenbaum. "In Canada, we are looking for products that are truly natural and are also healthy or beneficial to good health".

During the talk, which served as the preface to the Free Trade Agreement which will enter in force this coming 15th of August between Colombia and Canada, the expert explained that Colombian exporters have to consider four principles when thinking about Canada as a market for their products: "It is necessary to have a Canadian partner as a distributor in order to avoid any problems with licensing issues they must have a story to tell about their products, i.e. where it comes from, what ingredients it contains, who produces it they must also know how to distinguish themselves, in other words, why buy a Colombian product and not a South Korean one finally, their products have to benefit either health or beauty, without chemicals or preservatives."

The consultant will also be visiting seven companies from the sector until August sixth, in order to study the marketing strategies of the companies and the weaknesses that need to be worked on to be able to access the Canadian market.
