'Canada is a demanding market that aims for quality´, exporters stated.

195 Colombian companies are getting ready for the International Macro Business Round in Toronto with 174 Canadian buyers.

Entrepreneurs who will attend the International Macro Business Round, organized by PROCOLOMBIA and which will be held at   the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, on October 27th and 28th, expressed optimism for this event.

" The chance to participate in that market was remote for us.   But the Macro Business Round will enable us to meet high level clients and I am sure that this opportunity will lead us towards a successful entry in the Canadian market,&rdquo said Henry Monroy from Agritec, a company dedicated to produce certified, organic, fresh and processed fruits.

On the other hand, José Luis-Caicedo, from Brash 3D, stated that " Canada is the mecca of the digital field.   Large companies that manufacture software are based there and this will be a good opportunity to search for markets and technical information about the products we use.&rdquo

Likewise, participants also referred to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries which entered into force this past 15th of August:

" Business opportunities are broader since the signature of the FTA, but we have to go in with quality because it is a demanding market,&rdquo stated Gustavo Mariñ o from Confecciones Marlstone, a company dedicated to women clothing manufacturing.

" These are excellent news because it is a market that pays much higher prices than ours and we foresee many business possibilities,&rdquo added Pablo Ramí rez, from Industrias Imer.

There will be 195 national exporters with products from sectors such as: Agriculture, manufacturing, clothing and services that will meet with 174 Canadian buyers participating in the event.

Participating entrepreneurs from the agricultural sector will offer: Sugars, honeys and sweeteners, cocoa and coffee products, processed fruits and diverse food preparations, among others.

From the manufacturing sector entrepreneurs will take: Equipment, auto parts, containers and packaging and building materials.   Regarding services and clothing, the following Colombian products will be offered: Leather, garments, digital contents and software.

This business round makes part of the strategy of Taking Advantage of the FTA and its Support Plan,   launched by PROCOLOMBIA, for exporters who were affected by the revaluation, the rainy season and the suspension of tariff preferences in the United States.

Additionally there will be investment and tourism seminars, as well as a technical mission with animation and video game exporters.   Another mission will comprise agricultural, manufacturing and garment companies.   This will give them a chance to know the Canadian market and its business opportunities.
