Australia and Holland Rely on Technology from Pereira to Manage Their Crops

Grupo Jad developed a real-time tracking system to control production and create reports on agricultural processes. They intend to support small producers in Colombia and other agricultural countries.

Pereira, June 21st (Pxp). Agribusiness companies in Australia and Holland manage their resources through a mobile app developed by Grupo Jad, a company from Pereira. Grupo Jad&rsquo s digital service gathers relevant data from the entire production chain and sends it to a cloud-based software for processing. The system, originally developed in Colombia, is called AMD AGRI (Agroindustrial Mobile Devices on the Cloud).

Through an Android mobile device, farmers and agribusiness entrepreneurs can submit information related to seed sampling, crop scheduling, operating costs, and even human resources management. The data will then reach a cloud-based program that classifies information automatically to help plan the relevant processes.

" We simply broke away from a piece of software known as ERP (Enterprise Resource Programming), which handled information. We created a new system and even added an app for it. Now we provide a full-fledged system," explained Camilo Varona, Business Manager of the company.

The idea to create AMD AGRI was born after the company, founded in 2006, sent its representatives to learn about how the big agribusiness companies managed their resources in countries like the United States. Then they realized that very few people in Africa, Australia, Russia, and Latin America had access to technology to track their resources.

As a result, they came up with the idea of creating an affordable and user-friendly tool for small- and medium-scale farmers. " Our goal is to promote the methods implemented by large companies among producers in Colombia and other countries," said Varona.

Australian producers were stunned. This Colombian technology had the potential to manage their whole planting and harvesting process. " They expected us to be from Japan, China, Malaysia, India, or even the United States, they never imagined that we could provide this kind of service," the officer added.

Grupo Jad' s main advantage is that their product operates from the cloud, which avoids the need to install anything in the clients' countries. This reduces costs for buyers so the service has an edge over competitors.

" We have been able to export for four years now thanks to the training and plans PROCOLOMBIA developed for us. We attended a business matchmaking forum in Brazil and the 50th Matchmaking Forum held in Bogota," the entrepreneur stated.

It was PROCOLOMBIA who recognized that the software developed in Risaralda had a chance to be distributed among buyers from Ecuador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Chile, and Honduras. " Thanks to the joint efforts between the government and the private sector, Colombian technology has reached highly industrialized countries in Europe and Asia," added Maria Claudia Lacouture, President of PROCOLOMBIA Colombia.

Varona concluded by saying that, in order to begin exporting, companies should learn about the demands of each market and hold strategic partnerships abroad. For now, the company hopes to close a deal with a Russian client and conduct pilot testing with a Japanese company.
