46 Tourism Entrepreneurs from America and Oceania Will Discover What Colombia Has to Offer Tourists

Tour operators from Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay will participate in the second round of Discover Colombia, a LAN Colombia and Proexport initiative to attract international tourism to the country.

This Friday, a total of 46 tourism entrepreneurs from nine countries will begin a tour of five of Colombia's main cities. During the tour, they will not only enjoy the unique experiences these destinations offer foreigners, but will also have the opportunity to forge links with local tourism industry representatives.

At the invitation of PROCOLOMBIA and LAN Colombia, wholesalers specialized in the vacation sector will visit Bogota, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta between May 23 and 31. During this time, their agenda includes business networking events and trade exhibitions.

This tour is the essence of the Discover Colombia program. The goal of holding the event two years in a row is to fuel the growth of the national tourism industry through fam trips that permit international tour operators to get to know the country's tourist attractions, while at the same time allowing national providers to showcase their products and services.

46 empresarios de turismo de América y Oceanía descubrirán la oferta turística colombianaWith this aim, the Discover Colombia organizers will accompany the guests to places such as the Zipaquira salt mines, La Candelaria neighborhood in Bogota, the Parque Explora and the Medellin Metrocable, and the Walled City in Cartagena. They will also experience the culinary delights of Barranquilla and to enjoy a sunset on the Santa Marta Marina.

"The wholesalers will enjoy new experiences associated with the country's tourism products. We have entrepreneurs from eight countries in the Americas and Australia, a market in which we began promoting tourism to Colombia last year," stated Maria Claudia Lacouture, PROCOLOMBIA president.

The governmental agency promotes products in such areas as adventure, culture, nature, sun and sand, golf, sailing and cruises, shopping, and luxury, in the home countries of the delegates: Australia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.

Hernan Pasman, Executive Director of LAN Colombia, stated that "Discover Colombia is a joint promotion effort, since aside from PROCOLOMBIA and LAN Colombia, public institutions from each city and private companies related with the sector are actively participating, all so that the initiative will truly become a window into Colombia for the rest of the world.

This initiative has arisen from the alliance between PROCOLOMBIA and LAN Colombia, to strengthen the strategy for promoting the country as an ideal destination for foreign tourists.
