
Healthy, functional, exotic and quality foods will be the product line with which the 10 Colombian companies at the fine food stand hope to delight attendees at Anuga 2011.
Their participation, which aims to find distributors and partners in Europe, is supported by PROCOLOMBIA, the entity in charge of promoting tourism, investment and Colombian exports around the world.
" It' s a great showcase for international food products like ours, which have export potential," said Leonardo Ariza, director of the National Federation of Panela (brown sugar paste) Producers (FEDEPANELA), in which stand they will have powdered, natural Panela or brown sugar, flavored with natural passion fruit and molasses flavors of ginger, cinnamon and lemon juice (syrup), passion fruit, tequila mix and natural.
Julian Eduardo Zamora, manager of Laboratorios Vida Stevia added that the fair is the ideal venue for business opportunities. " About a year ago, stevia was approved for human consumption in the European Union, which opened the doors of the market for us. Anuga will be the perfect time to find a dealer" , he said.
Anuga, which takes place from October 8 to 12 in Cologne (Germany), will welcome a total of 29 Colombian exporters spread out in the other stands for exhibitors of: frozen foods, meat, hot beverages and bakery products.
The fine food stand will include Prodia, FEDEPANELA, Frutireyes, Alicolsa, Laboratorios Vida Stevia, Comexa, V. Altman y Compañ í a, Manitoba, La Superior and CIAMSA.
Juan Carlos Segura, general manager of Alimentos Liofilizados de Colombia (Alicolsa), assured that his main goal will be to meet new customers and will take lyophilized mango, pineapple and banana products, all with a tropical feeling that distinguishes them from the rest. " Our potential is in the European markets and from our positive experiences with the German market, the decision was made to participate in Anuga," he said.
Other companies will take powdered tropical fruit products like milk, beverages, cereal bars and soy based tahini, and quinoa, spicy sauces, pastry supplies, nuts and peanuts in various combinations as well as dried fruits such as gooseberry, mango and papaya.
Meanwhile, the company CEI de Azucares y Mieles S.A. (CIAMSA), will be offering sugar in different forms such as jars and sachets or bags. " Our goal is to achieve a much stronger penetration in the European market," said Maria Paula Gamboa, exports manager. " We want to bring a series of contacts and bridge the gap with the consumer and distribution channel," she added.
