PROCOLOMBIA's Stand Ranked First in US Medical Congress

Awarded for its design among the 204 participants from 90 countries, in one of the most important health sector professional meeting worldwide.

The World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare Congress awarded the Colombian stand the first place to the best exhibition, among the other 204 stands of participants from 90 countries, during the event carried out in Fort Lauderdale (Florida).

The 36 square meter stand designed by PROCOLOMBIA included the 15 Colombian health care institutions that participated in the Colombian sample.

It was also the first event hosted by the US Medical Tourism Association within the Congress framework, which gathers professional from different countries, such as brokerage firms, insurance companies, employers and lecturers.

" This is an acknowledgement to the work we carry out as institution to promote the country as specialized health service destination" affirmed María Claudia Lacouture, President of Proexport. " This year, together with another 20 institutions, we have attended international events, such as the World Healthcare Congress in Chicago, Miami and Costa Rica to explain the benefits of choosing Colombia for medical treatment" , informed Lacouture.

On the other hand, the 15 Colombian institutions, including clinics and hospitals, identified potential clients in the cardiology, oncology and neurology specialties mainly, and learned about the main demands of those who look for this type of services abroad.

Apart from the United States, PROCOLOMBIA has identified opportunities in Central America, Europe and the Caribbean, where specialized health and high complexity services are required, mainly in the cardiology, cancer treatment, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and odontology areas.

Promotion abroad

Within the work carried out to promote the country, PROCOLOMBIA also conducts familiarization trips and invites insurance companies and facilitators to present Colombian technology, infrastructure and clinics. This year, 13 potential foreign buyers have visited the country, including brokerage firms, insurance companies and employers from the United States.

Furthermore, the Discovery Channel is broadcasting special TV series promoting the country as health care destination until December 15, 2012, within PROCOLOMBIA' s " Select Colombia" strategy, which reaches nearly 30 million people in the United States and in Latin America.
