PROCOLOMBIA Events Agenda from September 19th to the 25th, 2011

From the week of August 19th to September 25th, 2011, Proexport Colombia will participate in the following national and international events.

1. Balance of Trade, Industry and Tourism on Monday in Bogota

The Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Sergio Diaz-Granados, will preside the meeting on Accountability of the sector on Monday September 19, with the participation of the Vice Ministers of this Office and the Managers of the registered member institutions.

As part of the event, to be held at the RTVC facilities in Bogota, Minister Diaz-Granados will present the main achievements of the sector in the first year in office as a whole, as well as the challenges for the next three years, while the Vice Ministers and Directors, will discuss the strategies and outcomes in detail.
The event will begin at 10:00 am and will be broadcast on Canal Institucional and online through the website of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, www.mincomercio.gov.co


2. Migration Forum: the first safe step for your investment in Colombia

The forum " Migration: the first safe step for your investment in Colombia" will be held on September 21st at the Hotel Embassy Suites in Bogota, organized by PROCOLOMBIA, Godoy Abogados and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia.

The event, to be held between 7:00 and 10:00 am, will cover topics such as options for the entry of foreigners into a company, the migration obligations of the company sponsoring the entry of a foreign citizen, and the migration obligations of the foreign citizen.


3. International Expotur Panama 2011

PROCOLOMBIA, through its support to six entrepreneurs, will be present at the International Tourism Fair of Panama, Expotur between September 23 and 24, to be held at the Atlapa Convention Center.

The participation seeks to publicize the Colombian export offering available to the Panamanian market and to wholesalers in the U.S., Asia and Europe who will attend the fair. Among the products to be announced are airlines serving the region, cruise lines, hotel chains, golf clubs, shopping centers, promotion agencies, receptive tour operators, and providers of sea and land transport.

4. ExpoBelleza 2011 in Ecuador

A total of 17 Colombian exporters, with the support of PROCOLOMBIA, will be representing the country with an exhibition booth at ExpoBelleza Colombia 2011, a trade show for beauty, health, wellness and fashion products in Quito (Ecuador) from September 22 to 26.

The fair, organized by Procosmé tico, the Ecuadorian Cosmetics Association, will be held at the fairgrounds of Cemexpo where Colombian entrepreneurs will show the Ecuadorian market cosmetics products of all types, hair products, manicure and pedicure, spa equipment, and size-reduction belts, among others.

5. Colombia, your ally in Quito and Guayaquil

Maria Fernanda Mendoza of Fashion Marketing and Jorge Lopez, Colombian speakers, will be participating in the training sessions arranged by PROCOLOMBIA, intended to contributing towards the increase in sales of supplies, raw materials of Colombian products and positioning of the apparel consultancy sector in Ecuador.

" Colombia, your ally in Quito and Guayaquil" will participate for the fourth time between September 22 and 23 this is a very popular project in the neighboring country, which has contributed to the positioning of Colombian brands, and is expected to gather more than 400 buyers from the apparel sector.


6. Colombian tourism offering in Top Resa 2011 in Paris

From September 20 to to 23, 12 tour operators supported by PROCOLOMBIA will be promoting domestic tourism products, including: History and Culture, Nature and Ecotourism, with destinations such as Bogota, Cartagena de Indias (Islas del Rosario), Santa Marta (Tayrona park), the Coffee Triangle and Medellin.

The meeting is the most important tourism encounter in France, and is expected to draw 27,000 professionals from the industry.

7. Exporters at the International Fair of Food Products and Technologies GIDA 2011 in Turkey

Ten companies in Colombia, with the support of PROCOLOMBIA, will attend the International Exhibition of Food Products and Technologies, GIDA 2011 for the first time, from September 22 to 25, to be held at the Exhibition Center in Istanbul, Turkey.

The aim is to explore opportunities for Colombian products in the Turkish market, including fruits such as gooseberry, shrimp, and to establish contacts with potential buyers.

8. U.S. incentive travel houses will be in Medellin and Cartagena

Between September 19 and 21, six incentive travel (Fam Trip) houses from the United States will visit Medellin to perform detailed research for Fam Trips, and between Septembter 21 to 24 they will visit Cartagena de Indias, supported by PROCOLOMBIA, with the purpose of promoting the city as an ideal place for Fam Trips.

Eight important executives from the main incentive trip houses from the United States will participate in the activity, among which are: RT Travel & Incentives, Tendot Corporate Travel, World Wide Incentive Travel, Helms Briscoe, Straightline Travel Group, Mampre Media International, Impact Incentives Meetings, Inc. These executives have assessed the two destinations, for the realization of their upcoming events.


9. Entrepreneurs from Puerto Rico will be on a Fam Trip in Bogota, Cartagena and San Andres

From September 16 to 23, four businessmen from the Mechanical Contractors' Association of Puerto Rico will be on an inspection visit in Bogota, San Andres and Cartagena to choose the venue for its next convention in 2012, with the participation of approximately 150 engineers from the electrical and mechanical industry in that country. The trip is part of the promotion and positioning strategy of the country as a destination for conventions by PROCOLOMBIA Colombia.

10. Puerto Rican scientists on an inspection trip in Cartagena

Three Puerto Rican scientists, members of the Board of the Pan-American Congress of Hemorrhagic Dengue, will travel to Cartagena de Indias to validate the city as a possible venue for 2012 Congress.

PROCOLOMBIA prepared an agenda with major health authorities such as Health Secretary of the provincial department of Bolivar and the Administrative District Health Department of Cartagena. In addition, the opportunity will be taken to show the city's tourism attributes.


11. International buyers will be in Expometalica Medellin 2011

Ten international buyers from Panama, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Ecuador will participate with the support of PROCOLOMBIA in Expometalica 2011, an international trade show for buyers in the field of iron and steel, metalworking, auto parts, automotive, hardware, and electrical. The event will be held in Medellin from September 21 to 23.

Expometalica Fair is a space created by the ANDI Fedemetal Chamber, expecting 65 exhibitors from the national metalworking industry, and which will also feature the exhibition of new technologies and trends to potentialize the marketing channels for products and services demanded the production chain.

12. PROCOLOMBIA at the V National Congress of Free Trade Zones - ANDI

The V Congress of Free Trade Zones, will be held September 22 and 23, 2011, at the International Convention and Exhibition Center of the Americas, and expects to be the ideal space for entrepreneurs to become aware of the incentives and opportunities provided by the Colombian government to promote competitiveness in all departments to assess the economic and social impact achieved by free trade zones on employment and investment, and what is being done towards regional and national development.

In this event, PROCOLOMBIA will have an institutional exhibition stand to provide information to entrepreneurs about the institution and the services the entity provides, in a space to discuss how the Free Trade Zones tool is presented as the model used to attract investment in Latin America successful Free Trade Zone models for the development of high value-added services will be on display, such as call centers, BPO, telecom, and the importance of these venues for the mining and hydrocarbons sector.

13. General Assembly of the Confederation of Chambers of Commerce - Confecá maras

On September 22 and 23, 2011, Cartagena de Indias will host the 48th General Assembly of the Confederation of Chambers of Commerce - Confecá maras " For Competitiveness: Colombia speaks from its regions."

PROCOLOMBIA will be present through an institutional exhibition stand to provide information to entrepreneurs about the institution and the services provided by the entity in a space designed for the actualization of today's critical issues in Colombia.

14. Cruise season 2011 - 2012 begins in Cartagena de Indias

Cruise season 2011-2012 will begin this September 22, with the arrival of the Regatta Cruise Ship from the company Oceania Cruises. The boat will arrive with 684 passengers and 400 crew members.

Seven Seas Navigator from Regent Seven Seas Cruises will arrive on September 24 with 490 passengers and a crew of 345 people.
PROCOLOMBIA promotes international cruise arrivals to Cartagena as part of the strategy to boost international tourist arrivals in the country. The season will end in May next year.


15. In Minneapolis (USA), Promotion Seminar on Investment in Colombia in the BPO Sector

The Seminar on Investment in BPO will take place on September 21, through a joint effort between the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce and PROCOLOMBIA to promote investment in this sector and, in turn. to promote the country and the entity. The participants of this seminar will be 20 potential entrepreneurs from the sector.


16. Canadian expert in organics will give seminars in Bogota, Medellin and Barranquilla

As part of its strategy for utilization of the Free Trade Agreement with Canada, and with the support of the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO), PROCOLOMBIA invited Canadian expert Claude Tardiff to give three speeches in different cities on 'How to access the Canadian market with organic products.'

The first meeting will be Monday, September 19 at the Hotel Tequendama Bogota from 8:30 am to 5 pm. The meeting will also be held on the 27th of the month at the Hotel Intercontinental in Medellin, and on October third at the Hotel Dann Barranquilla.


17. PROCOLOMBIA will support Social Media Week

Bogotá will join 12 cities around the world to be part of Social Media Week, the global conference that addresses issues of connectivity, social networking and mobile media. PROCOLOMBIA will support the activity by inviting several experts who will be giving the talks in Bogota. In addition, a meeting was scheduled with Brian Wong, Kiki Valdes and Jonathan Richman, world leaders in the field of social media and online marketing. The SMW will be held from September 19 to 23.
