Colombian Business tourism offering at IMEX Americas 2011

1. PROCOLOMBIA will participate for the first time in Imex Americas, to be held at The Venetian / Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas. Imex is one of the most important events in the corporate travel industry, which offers qualified buyers an opportunity to network with exhibitors from around the world. There will be a busy agenda with one-on-one meetings to make the best use of time. Colombia seeks to establish long term business relationships with buyers and incentives houses.
The event was also attended by the bureaus of Bogota, Cartagena and Medellin, who will be in the PROCOLOMBIA exhibition stand, which will implement the Green Strategy to promote sustainable culture by measuring the impact of the carbon footprint of the participants.

Colombia in 2011 Anuga food fair in Germany

2. A group of 29 Colombian companies will be present from Saturday October 8 at Anuga 2011, the most important international food and beverage industry fair, taking place in Cologne, Germany, until October 12. Your participation, supported by PROCOLOMBIA, aims to identify new markets, trends, make contacts and close deals. They will also have the task of putting " Colombia at the tip of everyone' s tongue," the name of the country strategy at the show.
The participation of companies is led by Bogota with 13 companies, followed by Valle del Cauca (6), Caldas (3), Antioch (3) and the departments of Santander, Bolí var, Atlá ntico and Risaralda each with one participant. Fairways Magazine and African American Golfers Digest will see the Golf offering available in Bogotá and Santander

3. PROCOLOMBIA invited two journalists from the United States Golf industry to participate in the familiarization trip which will take place from October 10 to 16 in Bogotá and Santander, to showcase Colombia as a destination for Golf practice and demonstrate the quality of the courses and countryside charm promising an unforgettable experience for golfers.
Participants in this Press Trip are Michael Stansfield, a journalist with the magazine Fairways Magazine, official magazine of Utah golf, and Debert Cook, president of the African American Golfers Digest magazine in New York, which provides information and business opportunities in this industry.

Gourmet Uchuva Show in Atlanta

4. PROCOLOMBIA in conjunction with Caribbean Exotics CI, a leading exporter of exotic fruits located in Colombia, will perform a Gourmet Show on Saturday October 15 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Atlanta Marriot Marquis Hotel in Atlanta (USA), where eight different uchuva (Physalis) dishes will be prepared exclusively by a chef.
This event will be held within the framework of one of the most important food fairs in the country, the Fresh Summit 2011, also known as the PMA, to raise awareness on the uchuva as an exotic fruit with great success in the American market. The attendance of 25 to 30 entrepreneurs is expected, including distributors and gourmet supermarkets in the region.

Colombianization of travel agencies in Chile

5. As part of the strategy for positioning and promotion of Colombia in Chile, PROCOLOMBIA in partnership with Via Wholesale Club, will fill the Travel Club agencies with Colombia campaign material.
During the week, Colombia will have an exhibition stand and will deliver promotional material, videos of the tourism campaign " The risk is wanting to stay" , and will release Chilean summer packages at stylish hotels in Cartagena, cruise ships embarking from Cartagena, natural national park products with sun and beach options and packages to San Andres.

Training on Cartagena as a cruise ship port of embarkment in Chile

6. To support the strategy of promoting Cartagena de Indias as a cruise ship port of embarkment, the PROCOLOMBIA sales office in Chile, together with Interexpress, representative of Pullmantour and Royal Caribbean in Chile, will develop mass training sessions in the main retail agencies in Santiago to promote the sale of booths from Cartagena. Without doubt, a way to support the product diversification which is underway in the Chilean market in the tourism sector.

Colombian Tourism in Chile Mall

7. The massive promotion of Colombia in Chile, in partnership with Falabella travel and the PROCOLOMBIA sales office in this country, will begin next week.
As part of the marketing plan, Colombia will have a booth - island in major malls in the city offering tour packages for the summer. There will also be street signs and the main shopping malls will be ' Colombianized' with videos and images of the country and a standard mass media campaign, which will allow the digital promotion of Colombia as a tourist destination for cruises, stylish hotels, parks, and beaches, and the traditional combination of San Andres and Cartagena, which are some of the packages to be offered during the week.

Greater connectivity with Curacao

8. Over 100 participants including media, travel agents and corporate accounts are expected on 11 October at the launching of the new Avianca flight, with the support of PROCOLOMBIA, covering the route Bogota - Curaç ao, and operating as of July 15.
The inaugural event will feature six performances of dancers, mimes and acrobats from Danzarte dance group. Guests should be greeted with a stripe of the Colombian flag and, in general will be a colorful event which will offer typical Colombian food, and will inform the public about the increased number of seats on the Avianca Bogotá - Curacao flight.

Hotel Supplies Trip in Costa Rica 2011

9. In order to exploit the business opportunities provided by sustained growth in the hospitality industry in Costa Rica, PROCOLOMBIA supports the field visit and business matchmaking forum, which involved about 20 buyers, divided into hotel product distributors and project decision makers and doers.

Colombian flower growers travel to IFEX in Asia

10. Seven companies in the PROCOLOMBIA exhibition stand and 12 companies in the country stand will participate in IFEX, the floriculture exhibition fair in Asia, promoting Colombian flowers in the Japanese market, from October 13 to 15 at the Makuhari Messe, Tokyo, Japan.
In addition to the carnations display, the Colombian flower most exported to Japan, other flowers brought by Colombian exporters will also be showcased, such as roses, chrysanthemums and ' desbotonados' . Colombia as a destination for BPO investors in the Philippines.

11. The BPAP International Outsourcing Summit is one of the events in the BPO sector which has been positioning itself more strongly in Asia, due to the increased participation of Philippine companies in this important sector.
PROCOLOMBIA will introduce the country as an investment destination for Philippine companies, and companies from other places in the world, whose future prospects include a greater presence in the market of outsourced services in Spanish and English.

Training on Colombia as a destination in Brazil

12. PROCOLOMBIA in partnership with the wholesaler Firewall, will conduct a training session in the city of Sã o Paulo on Colombia as a destination with over 50 travel agents.
The event will feature typical Colombian food and music to bring more travel agents closer to the culture.

Puertorican Bankers' Convention in Bogotá

13. The Mortgage Bankers Association of Puerto Rico (MLOAN) will hold its annual convention, with more than 120 partners in Bogota, from October 12 to 16. This convention is the result of the activity of PROCOLOMBIA Colombia. The convention will be hosted at the Bogota Plaza Hotel and will be operated by Panamericana de Viajes.
Bogotá was chosen as the venue for this event, and for the second time, Colombia is home to the Convention, as it was held in Colombia in 2009 in Cartagena.

Bogotá will be presented as the host of the World Medical Association General Assembly 2015

14. From October 12 to 16 at the Radisson Victoria Plaza in Montevideo Uruguay, Bogota will be nominated to host the General Assembly of the World Medical Association 2015, which arose from the initiative of Sergio Isaza, President of the Colombian Medical Federation.
The Colombian Medical Federation is working on this opportunity in joint efforts with PROCOLOMBIA and the Bogota Conventions Bureau. This is the most important event in the world in medical the medical field, which brings together approximately 1,500 physicians from around the world from the World Medical Association' s 108 member countries.
This event has taken place in Latin America only three times, and has been held annually since 1947. The 2012 assembly will take place in Thailand. To nominate Bogota, specific awareness needs to be created in order to make a point to the members of the board (30 pax) and general attendees of the event, because the city will be presented before the entire assembly (1,500).
