Through the virtual trees to be received by the 132 international buyers participating at the Book Fair Business Rounds, and inviting the attendees to the event to calculate their carbon footprint, PROCOLOMBIA continued its green strategy to then contribute towards the preservation of the planet.
This initiative is linked to the world trend to incorporate social and environmental responsibility in business priorities.
This time, PROCOLOMBIA gave each of the international buyers a tree, and after four months they will receive, via email, detailed information on the type of plant and place where it was planted, as well as its evolution.
On the other hand, those who visit the PROCOLOMBIA stand located on the first floor of Pavilion 3 at Corferias, will have the opportunity to calculate their personal annual emissions of Carbon Dioxide through a series of questions such as 'What means of transportation do you use?'. How many people live in your household? How many trips do you make a year?, among others.
By the end of the questionnaire, the program will provide the result of your annual Carbon Dioxide impact and the number of trees you have to plant in one year to erase your footprint. This activity is intended to generating awareness about care for the environment.
The green strategy at the International Book Fair is the continuation of the strategy started by PROCOLOMBIA in 2011 at Fitur tourism fair in Spain, followed during the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, Colombiatex in Medellin, Colombia Travel Mart in Bogota and ITB in Germany.
The III Business Rounds within the framework of the Book Fair hosted international buyers invited by PROCOLOMBIA, coming from countries like Ecuador, Mé xico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic, Argentina, the United States, Nicaragua, Chile, Honduras, Venezuela, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Paraguay.
