Large scale buyers such as Perry Ellis, Royal Caribbean, Disney and Interline Brands are already signed up for the third Business Matchmaking Forum to be held by PROCOLOMBIA in Miami on May 14th and 15th as part of PROCOLOMBIA' s strategy to exploit the FTA with the United States.
PROCOLOMBIA President, María Claudia Lacouture, noting that 500 Colombian exporters and 280 buyers from the United States and the Caribbean islands will attend the event, noted,
" Various factors are motivating the North American entrepreneurs to participate, such as the logistical straightforwardness they find in Colombia, the advantages of the FTA and the quality of Colombian products."
Of those confirmed to attend the event is Anthony Travis, of Perry Ellis, one of the most important clothing companies of the United States. " I know Colombia is a country that can offer a great variety of products with very fast delivery times. The FTA has also allowed them to be more competitive. At the end of the day, the only price that matters is the price at final destination, so any savings in tariffs is very valuable."
Form-fitting apparel, sportswear, outerwear, underwear, children' s clothing, footwear, bathing suits, uniforms and leather items are some of the Colombian products that Perry Ellis could purchase during the Business Matchmaking Forum. The manufacturing, agribusiness and service sectors will also participate.
Products offered during the event will include workwear, cosmetics, construction materials, furniture, wood, containers and packaging, healthcare services and foodstuff such as fish, fruit, sweeteners, milk, coffee and cocoa products, snacks, sweets, drinks, various food preparations, baked goods and flour-based products.
