Medellín, ready to receive the Mexican soccer team

On July, 29th, the soccer team from the Aztec country will play their first game for the Sub- 20 Soccer World Cup against Argentina in the capital of Antioquia.

Medell&iacute n, the second biggest city in Colombia and known as " the mountain capital&rdquo will be hosting the Mexican soccer team for their participation in the Sub- 20 Soccer World Cup, which will be played from July 29th to August 20th.
 
Once the ball starts rolling, during the second game of group F against the team from Argentina, the Mexicans fans will be able to enjoy the entire touristic offer the department of Antioquia has, and which was presented by a mission of tourism Colombian operators and promoting entities in Mexico City before wholesalers and local journalists, during a meeting that was held at the ST Regis Hotel, and organized by PROCOLOMBIA Colombia.

" Antioque&ntilde os&rdquo , or &lsquo paisas&rsquo in Colombian language, are hard working people, they are always optimistic and persistent, but above all things they are kind to the visitors and have a great soccer playing tradition since some of the most successful soccer players in the country, like  Ren&eacute Higuita, Faustino Asprilla and  Iv&aacute n Ramiro C&oacute rdoba, among others, come from local teams.  Medell&iacute n became well known in the sports world when one of its local soccer teams, Atl&eacute tico Nacional, was crowned champion of the Copa Libertadores de Am&eacute rica in 1989. 

Known for its colorful Festival of the Flowers, where a wide variety and styles of silletas which are unique in the world, Medell&iacute n is also the city of the Colombian fashion due to its large number of shopping centers and commercial areas, as well as the excellent quality of its tissues and the inventiveness of the garments designed by Colombian designers. 

Some people call it  &lsquo the city of the endless spring&rsquo due to its  nice weather all year round, the visitor can find handicrafts from all over the country, an organized transportation system with metro service, two airports, great night activity and cultural offer with theaters, theme parks, a botanical garden and a wide network of libraries and library parks. 

Besides, you can find the Antioquia Museum with an important collection by the Colombian Master Fernando Botero, who is known worldwide because of his paintings and sculptures with characters of generous proportions. 

Regarding gastronomy the typical dish of the region &lsquo bandeja paisa&rsquo is a highlight, it is made with beans, rice, egg and the traditional arepa antioque&ntilde a (sort of a corn tortilla).
 
In the outskirts of Medell&iacute n, Mexicans will be able to visit Santa Fe de Antioquia and Guatap&eacute , two towns that are unique in the country. The first one, according to the people from Antioquia, is the mother of the paisa culture. Santa Fe was declared a National Patrimony due to its colonial architecture and because there are several of the most beautiful churches in the country. 

The municipality of Guatap&eacute , on the other hand, is well &ndash known for the baseboards of its houses, all of which are decorated with mule driver figures, silleteros, flowers and animals or just with simple geometrical figures of Spanish inspiration.
